budding relationship or nah?
So Ive started liking this guy, lets call him R. R and I go to the same boarding school and we just started this year so we havent known each other for that long. I began to realize that I liked him a few weeks ago, and at first I thought I was just desperate or lonely, but Im beginning to realize that most likely isnt the case.
Moving on, R and I have started talking more, and hes kind of flirty. I dont know if this is just his personality, or if hes actually interested in me. For example, we were riding the bus back from an event, and he wanted to sit with me, even though he didnt have to. R also laid his head on my shoulder towards the end of the ride bc it was kind of late and he claimed he was tired. R likes to touch me too, whether hes just tapping me on the shoulder or bumping into me. I dont mind any of this because I like him, but I just wish he would make a move.
The problem with all of this is that R recently broke up with his girl back home a few weeks ago. And even though I would love to start a relationship with R, I dont want to be his rebound. If we started dating, this would be my first relationship, and I dont want it to be like that. I also know deep down that R wouldnt be good for me, and that my parents most likely wouldnt approve. Their approval isnt really a factor right now, but Im using it for reference. I think about R all of the time though, and I really want to take the next step with him, I just dont know if I should or how to approach it
Hi @SpoonMoments. It's really difficult to know how someone feels by examining their behavior. It's quite possible that R doesn't even know how he feels about you yet and is prototyping by being affectionate. It's also possible he misses affection from his last relationship and may be trying to fill that hole by being affectionate with you.
We can't know his intentions but you can examine your own feelings in order to decide what you really want. On the one hand, you say you're interested and ready to start a relationship with him but on the other hand, you said you don't think he'd be very good for you. Seemingly contrary feelings like these are a part of romantic life, they're confusing but the don't need to be reconciled.
Desire might be the loud voice speaking to you so be mindful of the smaller voices, what they're saying to you, as well.
