A season of feasts.
In the Episcopal Church USA there are some very special red letter days on our liturgical calendar that enrich me the most. They are referred to as feast days in which there are different kinds of feasts. A little over a month ago we had the magnificent Feast of Saint Mary, Mary being my Anglo-Catholic parishes patron saint. Last Sunday was the Feast of Saint Michael and All Angels which is not observed by a lot of parishes with mine being the only one to observe it in this diocese. And at the beginning of November is the much anticipated Feast of All Saints, my church's namesake. These beautiful Solemn High Masses, our usual style, really are an opportunity to reflect on some fundamental aspects of the faith through the holy sacraments. I look forward to the Feast of All Saints even more than usual this year since my friend will be baptized.

It was a beautiful Mass. More than a little too much incense, though. We regularly use incense as a part of our worship, but the more special the day, the more incense is used. I like it though. We have a few great smelling varieties all with frankincense in them.

November 2nd is the Feast of All Saints. Our church's namesake. It is a Mass perfect for baptisms, baptismal vow renewals, celebrating salvation through Christ as a living saint, and paying honor to the heavenly saints.

God is the ultimate Active Listener. 😊Checking in with him throughout the day makes everything better. I love celebrating Mass because God delights in songs being sung to Him. And it is a good thing that he indicated in the Old Testament that he likes incense, because we definitely send a lot up to him. haha
