From my knowledge as a Christian there are the 10 commandments to look at, so what led you think that asexuality is a sin?

Hello officialanonymous and Soul! I thought to post about this topic from a knowledge perspective that can help everyone's learning path 🌸

To mention the bigger denominations, Christianity referts to the Roman Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church and the various Protestant Churches.

In the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Church, priests and nuns take vows of chastity, which has a profound religious meaning, it's not rooted in how the person feels as in experiencing no sexual feelings or desires for another person.

In Protestant Churches there are pastors and they don't have to take vows of chastity.

I'm far from an authority on the matter and I'm sure there are many opinions out there, but here's what I think.

Firstly, there is nothing about Christianity that forbids asexuality. In fact, living a life free of sexual desire is praised and was the example set by some fathers of the church (you can check St Paul's first epistle to the Corinthians, where he seems to suggest that sexual relationships are not for him).

Regardless of all that, I think you can be Christian and embraced by God no matter how you identify. Ignore me if this doesn't resonate, but I don't think being asexual is something you choose. It is not bad, but it is also not a decision to act in some specific way, against some code. It's just how you experience yourself and the world. I don't think there's anything wrong with that

The thing about Scripture is that although it doesn't always tell us something directly, by looking at the behaviours and teachings of Christ, we can learn much based solely on what he does and doesn't do.

And, as of known Scripture, Jesus never experienced sexual attraction as far as we are concerned. Though the Bible considers homosexuality a sin, so is sexual immorality. I truly believe that asexuality is completely the opposite of sexual immorality.

If we are meant to follow the example set by Christ, I think that's the answer. Asexuality is not considered sinful in the Bible.

1 Corinthians 7:8 says "To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single, as I am." As well as 1 Corinthians 7:1-2 says, "Now concerning the matters about which you wrote: “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband."

I could be very wrong, but if you searched and cleaned your heart, you’d probably be straight since thats how God designed man and woman to compliment each other, yet being single is totally fine if that’s God’s will for you so I could be wrong!
