God's sign?

Hey my spiritual friends! I wanted to talk about God, with anyone willing to listen. I was raised catholic but stopped going to church years ago. I always believed in God bur never had a close relationship with him. However, I know he is there.

Two years ago, someone I really loved exited my life. I accepted it, and prayed to God for their safety almost everyday. I had wished to be friends with them however I had blocked them to protect myself.

Long story short, we have the same friend group. I decided to unblock that person two years later, feeling ready to let them go and let God do the worrying. They CAME back. It was unexpected. But I'm happy none the less.

So, I asked God for a sign to PROVE to me that this person coming back was HIS doing. I said "God, if this person is meant to be here, send me a sign. Show me a butterfly. That prayer I made two days ago. Last night I had a dream...

I was in a field of flowers. I walked up to a tree with flowers...and could have SWORN there was a black and yellow butterfly. But as I walked around it it seemed that it was an illusion. Like it turned into a flower...

Is this a sign? Or am I being delusional...

I'm slowly getting g closer to God and trying to trust his process. Any tips would help

Hey. I was raised as Catholic, against my will, but my adult choices were quite different.

I think it's a little bit risky and unsafe to expect the Creator, the Wisdom and the Universe to PROVE anything 😀

But yes, using words like "Please, give me a sign" or "Let me understand it better" sound extremely reasonable.

That's good the butterfly was only in your dream, not for real. Because some people believe that when you see a butterfly during a funeral, it might be the soul of the deceased person wanting to join the ceremony.

Do you think the butterfly message could be like: "Be aware of your mind's tricks, but still I can do it better 😊"? Also, are you aware of the fact that a chrysalis transforming into a butterfly can be a symbol of spiritual awakening?

Not that I expect God to prove anything, I just wanted to make sure the sign was from him and not a delusion if that mskes sense. Sometimes our mind plays tricks. Also this person didn't exit the world, that person exited my life as In we parted ways. That is why I asked God to send me a sign that he intended this reunion.

When I was a child, I use to ask God for signs, and he would show me signs in dreams... then it stopped. Now that I'm getting close again when I pray about things he gives me little signs. It's scary, but exciting...

No. I don't see it as any delusion. Rather as a kind of gift.

Sorry if the tune of my previous post felt too playful. I meant spiritual things are very serious (and possibly connected with some dangers) on one hand, but also a very joyful experience.

A field of flowers... Isn't it about noticing beauty everywhere around?

Maybe. The butterfly I saw turned into a flower, I read that it is a sign of major transformation both physically and spiritually.
