Do they have you in a leash? 🦮

It's a Friday morning, you get up partly irritated by your alarm. You are almost instantly reminded of the work you would do today. Some days you love your work, other days you despise it.

You get ready, dress up to the expected sophistication. A sudden craving seeks your attention. You must have a cigarette before leaving for work. You don't like smoking, you know it's bad for your health, but you are helpless, every bit of your body and mind desperately needs it.

You have some deliverables that you haven't yet completed. You anticipate your manager's response. They would not like it. You can't quit your job because you have your liabilities. The EMIs and the financial burden of your family. You gear up to listen to their cacophonous reprimands.

You are at work, but you can't stop thinking about the weekend that looms over your head. Ha! Finally a respite. What better way to spend your weekend other than drinking with the strangers that have turned into friends over the course of months?

And the monotonous and painfully similar routine follows week after week. There is an inner voice that wants to be free but you quell that voice whenever it gets louder. Will you ever be free?

And there lies the irony, you don't realize your own freedom.

@BlatantHonesty we all want to be happy but often people choose things that make them suffer in the long run.

The conflicting wants that you point out many others I talk to also experience the tug to satisfy cravings that do not get lasting happiness.
