Looking for a support group
Hi all! I'm new here, I joined because I'm looking to start/join a support group for religious trauma. I'm Catholic and I really love my faith, but I had some really abusive and controlling experiences in a Catholic workspace/community last year, so I'm struggling to heal from that while staying in the Church. I'd love to share with other people who have had a difficult time in their religious community but want to stay :)
@considerateMoon7791 hi I'm Lola 💖welcome to our cups family 💗I have religious trauma to😥 so I can sympathise with you there. Now I respect all religions but don't class myself as any particular religion. I believe in God, heaven and angels 💖 gives you a giant tiny hug 💗 I hope you find all the support you deserve here 💗
We Muslims believe in 5 things, three you listed already
1. God
2. Day of Judgment
3. Angels
4. Prophets
5. Books.
@considerateMoon7791 separate culture from theology. That's what I say to everyone and that's how i see my faith. Role models are hard to find. It's great to learn faith from example of one person but that doesn't happen quite often. We pick and choose good and bad things from different people according to what tunes with us. But if it's about thinking about ones beliefs-- we can do it on our own or turn to theological sources (again finding scholars and writers is useful here- and you'll have to pick and choose from them too).
Whatever you choose, base it on your intellect. That's my only tip.
Best wishes 🙂
