Hinduism refers to numerous religious traditions at the same time, without a common founding element and without a central authority regulating their practice. The term "Hinduism" can indicate "an entire culture, a vision of the world and of life, a way of being and behaving, a series of daily habits that have been handed down for millennia.
The liturgical year of Hinduism has many religious festivals. The feasts are numerous and are linked to the celebration of a God. They are generally preceded by fasting and have their center in the procession with the statue of the God placed on an adorned chariot or on a throne.

@MeaningfulSilence hi there. I am not familiar with Hinduism but I do value Hinduism because it passed on much wisdom to other spiritual leaders that studied Hinduism as part of their spiritual path.

Hopefully this is not a tasteless question...I'm only going by what I've read so far. Is it true that in Hinduism there are some 320 million deities in total? How does this square with the statement that all of them are different manifestations of the one supreme godhead?
(Also, if you guys do have that many gods & goddesses, how do you keep track of 'em all?!)
@slowdecline48 I am not a practitioner of the Hindu religion, but what we are trying to build in this Community is a sense of all being on a path or having a faith that guides us in our lives. The best way to do that is to speak of our own faith and our experience in it.
So I will reply to your question that every religion has ideas and stories that are analogies. There were no psychology or neuroscience at the time of Hinduism was started, so instead gods or deities represented different aspects of our human capacity. If you check out a medical dictionary there are many thousands of aspects to the human body and mind.
That is why I prefer speaking of our own experiences and faith so we can have a meaningful dialogue, finding common ground and helping to support each other.
