Weekly Safety Chats?
Hello all! 😊 It's me again!
I recently posted my concern for myself and those who may have experienced abuse at the hands of anonymous users on the site - which led to an idea. I've spoken to numerous people about said idea, but now I'd like your opinion! 😁
If I were to run a weekly safety chat for those who'd like to report any abuse that they've received, or would merely like to check-in or relay ideas on how to make 7 Cups a safer place, who would be interested?
I'm very passionate about this cause, and would like to speak with like-minded people and get the ball rolling ❤ Let me know! 😁

Yes i. think we need this

I really do like this idea especially when it comes to brainstorming about ways to better deal with abuse,I think that that could have a really positive impact on it though I would say that we would need to be careful about using the chat to report any abuse that we've had as that might go against some of the core pillars of professionalism and confidentiality if done in an open setting. there are times where abuse becomes quite enangling and it might be hard for us to tell what is the basics and what goes beyond that. I believe that we do have the listener listener behavior / safety report that might be helpful to professionally resolve disputes and abuse that way. Though I do think that the chats would be beneficial to dealing with the challenge as well as brainstorming ways that we can better handle it.
@GentleFlameofCaring I've come up with a way to keep confidentiality at the forefront ❤ I would never break this rule. Basically the chat would follow all 7 Cups Pillars, and would promote the use of report forms as well as reaching out when receiving abuse etc. Does this make sense? I'm terrible at explaining things 😋
I hope you're OK

Well in that case I really would like to learn more about the initiative and see it actualized and maybe even part of it.

And blocks for members to report. Mutes are also in place in the group rooms, and we have flagging and post removalor editing by forum mentors for the forums , which is a start but totally not bulletproof.
@GentleFlameofCaring it's all a work in progress, but I think it's something that could be very effective and bring about positive changes❤️
@Jem7Cups
I look forward to hearing more.
@Jem7Cups
this is truly a wonderful idea! community support is something we need and creating a weekly chat as a support group would be extremely helpful!!
@Jem7Cups
This is wonderful idea. There could also be a few 'guidelines' on how to handle abuse. Some types of abuse are pretty black and white (e.g. someone using abusive words). Some kind of abuse are simply members ganging up on someone whose opinions they differ from and calling them stuff they dont need to be called. If there are some kind of guidelines as to how to report or handle this, that would be pretty awesome.
@Jem7Cups What a fantatic idea and I am totally on board! And I can mod with you if you need me to
