What is one piece of (safety/knowledge) advice you would give a new member?
What are some things you wish you had known when you first joined as a member?
1- Don't expect relationships.
2- Don't judge us on the basis of our nation.
Hey there, my name is Jae! I want to personally give you a huge welcome to 7 Cups Of Tea! So glad you are here.
Here, you'll find support and encouragement from other members, and from listeners. We try to remain a theraputic, positve, welcoming, and healthy site.
We are a paired service, so we have trained and certified counselors. They are more professional and hold therapist-level certificates and training.
We also have trained listeners. We all are trained the same, but every one is different! They can chose to take certain topics, such as depression, bullying, relationships, etc. And if you're in need of support for a specific thing, I'd recommend finding a listener that knows about it!
We do have higher trained listeners, called Verified Listeners, as well.
The 7 Cups of Tea does also have an Internship Program for those taking psychology courses in school!
Take care, and reaching out for help is always an option here.

therapeutic, positive*
Spelling error, my apologies!
You may not connect with your first listener - don't let it discourage you. There are far more good people on here then bad - but like with everything there ARE bad. Just disconnect , review and find someone new. Your listener is out there and you will feel so much better once you find them. Keep your head up, you are trying and thats what is important.

Leave reviews for your listeners!!! I can't stress this enough. If the listener was helpful and super supportive, they'd love to know that. It will make their day! If the listener needs improvement or did something that didn't work for you, they might not love hearing it but they can't work on those things if they're not aware of them. Review review review!!!
You may not vibe with the first listener you meet. It might take time before you find the Goldilocks of listeners- you know, just right. Have some patience but also don't feel like you have to keep talking to someone who isn't right for you. You can have one listener or five listeners, but they should be people you feel comfortable with and who listen in the way that you need or want. You never have to keep talking to someone who makes you feel uncomfortable.
The site is big and overwhelming sometimes, even for me (and officially I've been around for over 4 years). But there are many ways to engage with the community, whether that's one on one chats, group chats, posting in the forum, or using your feed. Use your member account in whatever way works best for you. There's no one right way to be a member and there's no pressure to do anything that doesn't work for you.
But... there are some leadership positions if you want to take on a bigger role as a member. Ask around or check out the forum if you want more info on taking on a leadership role. We'd be happy to have you! Also, share your ideas. We want to hear about things you'd like to see or ways to make the community better.
We know following the rules isn't fun but we do expect it and we will uphold them as best we can. Please don't get mad at us for that. It's important for us to do this so we can keep our community safe for everyone involved.
Take care! Katheryn
Don't give up on this app/site. It took me a little but to get used to it and find someone to talk to. When I did it HELPED alot. It took me 3 days to find a listener that really listens. But the steps helped me greatly, and the group chat rooms were helpful to!
Don't let this forum become your relationships. Remember, this is still a form of social media. Instead think of this as a type of supplement like a multivitamin, nice to have but you couldn't sustain life on just them alone.
@scaryperry1
yes! well put!
Thank you. I hope it sounded sufficiently intellectual. I just wish I could follow my own advice. With the lack of ANY real relationships, a social media app tends to become THE relationship.
You are so stong. Stronger than you think. Becoming a member of this community was a big step, and we are all so so proud of you. Don't be afraid to talk to a listener. This is truly a judge free place and you are safe here. You CAN get through whatever you may be going through right now. And it's easier to row your boat when you've got someone else with you . You've got this, I assure you . Welcome aboard the 7 Cups community :)
Stay strong. You have taken the first step in helping yourself so take things slowly and remember that the path to recovery is not always fast or easy. But also remember that the listeners and therapists are also human and have their own personal lives so they may not always be available.
Our listeners are not perfect, so please treat us the way you would want to be treated.
AND please never take our help for granted because we volunteered and took time off to listen to what you have to say.
