How welcoming is this app for those with a history of suicide attempts?
That's me by the way. I am currently NOT suicidal, just lonely. But the app and website make it sound like I can't discuss such things, and I don't like hiding it. I shouldn't be ashamed of what happened, lest it happen again.
I also didn't notice a "survivor" community, but maybe I missed it?
@AkiraNoTabi Some people won't respond well to hearing about past attempts or thoughts unfortunately, but official policy is that if you are not currently suicidal nor abusing someone you can be here.
@MonBon do you know if there's something like a Survivor's section? I would have guessed it used to be under NAMI which is now all General Support.
@AffyAvo
We do not have a survivor's section. Our NAMI subcom was more focused on things like general mental health. The closest thing we have is a subforum dedicated to those who did not survive in grief and loss. Posting in general entries is usually a safe bet, for if there is a more appropriate subforum, sometimes a forum mentor will move it for you. And, if there isn't, then it's okay to stay in general entries.

Just a practical tip: before posting, save your post somewhere. It often happens that the system thinks you are currently at risk and does not publish the post. If you have saved it, you can try and find those words that are being censored and rephrase your sentences :)
I was censored a few times when sharing some past experiencies, and I know it is very frustrating, so I thought I'd better share this with you :)
