I'm new here and have a question about the 1 on 1 program.
Hello. I am new to 7 cups. I like what I have seen here so far with the group chats. I met some nice people and they made me feel better when something was botheringme. I do have a question about the 1 on 1 program though.
I have been looking at the listeners. Some of them are actually therapists and psychologists. I was wanting to know where I can post on the forum or something stating that I am looking for a listener that can help me with some things. I looked through the list of people, but idkwho would be a good fit or be able to help me, and I don't want to message 10 or 15 people trying to find someone.
I am really looking for a therapist or psychologist that can help me withself-esteem, relationshipissues/worries,and family matters. I don't have the money to go and actually see one, but I really want to get better so I don't feel so messed up sometimes. I thought this would be a good place to get some help since there is the 1 on 1 program.
Thanks for reading mypost. I would very much appreciate some advice.
If you type in the search bar counselor or phych it will come up with some people who are.. Hope that helped abit.. GOOD LUCK. .
Well I have been sending messages... Got nothing back yet though.
I hope someone replies soon! People can be busy, but hopefully they will log in to check their messages. If you don't end up getting in touch with anyone you've messages so far, sometimes talking with listeners who had delt with the same things you're dealing with can also be helpful, whether they have a degree or not. Just a though. :)
Hello there @Zethnos !
I'm so happy to hear your experience in our group support chatroom has gone so well but I can understand the struggles of finding the right listener for you.
As a listener that has been here for quite a while (and who knows what its like to search for the right listener from the member's perspective) here are some tips I use to find listeners:
--> If you are looking ofr a very very specific listener posting a classfied here might help you get some replies from listener that could be a good fit for yourself!
-->Look to the forums and read comments of listeners being supportive and see if any of them might be a good fit for you. (If you find anyone that interest you, you can always click their picture and it will take you to their profile where you can learn more about them)
-->Look for listeners based on code words (which you seem to have already tried by using the browse for listener's page and selecting specific options or writting key words)
-->Go through the Listener Reputation Page and select badge/badges that you think a listener that would be good for you should have and search within those groups! (for example, for someone that is good on relationship issues or heart break you might want to check listeners that have the Heart Healer badge.)
Hope these help!
Helpful post - some of these things I figured out but there are a lot of good tips. This information should be consolidated somewhere easy for relative noobs like me to find!
