Hi Mods and Admins!
Question, are some of the forums fully moderated -- a mod has to approve all posts before they post? I wrote two posts today trying to get information about what is allowed and not allowed from an html/coding perspective in the bio and neither posted, but my membership oath did post. Just wondering if new members are under some kind of probationary period where they can only post in certain threads/forums.
I have other questions about what can be posted in the bio section (If you can use css, does it have to be inline? Is bb code allowed on this forum? If so, what/where is the list of allowable bb code? What is the image posting guidelines -- if I post an image in a thread or on my bio does it have to be hosted offsite by an image hosting client or can I use my server?).
Thanks!
falconer
Hi @falconer42
In answer to your question, no, when you make a post, it goes up on the site automatically without being approved. And, no, I don't believe that there is a probationary period, however you obviously need to be either a listener or a member to post in the forums.
With regards to the code side of things, if you go out at night and look up and see a satellite flying overhead at about 40 kilometres up then that's probably coding for me. I'm a complete rookie with regards to anything else that you posted about so I'll defer to someone who appears to know a lot more on the subject than I.. @Ace13
@Roadie lol about the satellite, and thank you for your answer.
@falconer42
As Roadie said, definatly check in with Ace. David knows just about everything coding related there is to know on this site. As for Bios, in line in generally what is used for CSS. I'm not actually sure if you can use an alternate CSS sheet for style, as far as I know it's only inline. As for images, you should be able to simply attach the image using a general <img src=" blah blah blah. That's what I've used to attack images in bio and forum, and it's worked for me thus far with no issues.
Hi!
As @Roadie mentioned, there is no probation period nor fully moderated forums however there are the following to keep forums safe:
-Spamming filter
-Option to move threads for forum mods
-Option to rename threads for forum mods
-Option to delete posts or threads for forum mods
-and a few irrelevant stuff to our current problem.
Did the post show up in the thread for you or never actually posted? I know in 1-1s code lines are removed (long story) and I never tested it in the forums but I'll try and see what works and doesn't which could be linked to your issue, putting lines of codes never really shows up and you can't code your own forum posts neither with BB code, you have to use the toolbar options only.
For what comes to the bio, there are a lot of things that work and things that don't for different reasons, I highlighted the basics here: https://www.7cups.com/forum/QuestionsFeedbackIdeasFun_33/Funandrelaxation_91/BioDesignGuideVersion2_28829/
However since then I have discovered a lot more things you can and can't do, best way is to try them out and see if they are removed :) I'd be happy to discuss it further if you would like!
About image posting guidelines, it has to respect the community guidelines/rules of engagement like any other link you share or message you write (https://www.7cups.com/forum/COMMUNITYGUIDELINESPROTOCOL_109/RulesofEngagement_446/RulesofEngagement_62/) Pictures who break those rules may be subject to removal and/or further consequences.
Hope that helps a bit <3
@Ace13 thanks! i would've done the guess and check method, but i didn't want to make more work for you guys (cuz i've been there). but now that i know the parameters, i got it. gonna get down to some serious bio design next week (after my current project's deadline).
@falconer42 you're welcome :) feel free to post in the bio thread if you have any question!
