Names
Hi guys, I'm only been here a week and was thinking of becoming a member, but I found the form wouldn't let me keep my random name (the one I was assigned last week). I think it's a fun random name and I'd like to keep it. Is there any way I can do that? ...when I try to post the membership form it seems not to like the name field specifically...
Weird - you can't even just type it in?

If all else fails you can request a member name by email:
"To change your member account, please email community@7cups.com, include your current name and your preferred updated member name. Title your email: Member Username Change"
@squib: It just won't pass the form. Red writing appears underneath the proposed user name when I try to submit it, but it's only a general message, like "This is all that will be displayed"...
I will try doing the form in a different browser, like Opera. If that makes any difference, I'll let you know. If not, I'll use that email! :-) And thanks for your response! :-)
@purpleLunch4404 - I had this happen when I first signed up for an account and -- at least for me -- the problem turned out to be not the name but another field in the form, which i think had been blanked after the initial error... i turned down a lot of good names before i realized that (it was my member acct)
(sorry my listener username is so long, btw... I have thought of shortening it)
let's see... otherwise, yes just remember the name you wanted, use any other name to get set up and then either change the name in your settings (you can do this for the first two weeks) to the one you wanted or, if for some reason that does not work, open a support ticket and we can change it for you.
one other issue is if you are doing this from a new guest account the system may see the first username as "taken" already by your original guest account
