Hello -

I get this pop up when I go to read my messages. I am blocked from my messages unless I respond. Is this part of the site?

This is a new thing for control over trolls and/or spammers, actually. We do get a lot of them and this is one way to somewhat control the issue. I'm sorry for the inconvinience, by the way.

Cheerios!

Hi - Can someone from 7CupsofTea confirm the pop upis legit, and how we can tell if itis from the site or not? I would not want to click on something and find that my privacy or account is compromised. Theonly way this can work is if you can assure us anonymity.

Thank you!

SS

I am not a developer for the site, but I'm 99.99% sure it's just a security feature and will not compromise the security of your account or computer in any way. It's not an advertisement or maliciousor anything, it's meant to be there and I can find no evidence that would lead me to believe otherwise.

You're safe! No worries C:

The pop-ups are called Captcha and they are safe.... use to identify if the users are humans or computers/robots.

It would appear that Google has now taken over reCAPTCHAfrom captcha.net...

I'm honestly not surprised...

Thanks for the responses, but I am not sure why 7CoTmoderators have not replied. Kind of makes me worry more.

Yes it is part of the site, it was implemented a few weeks ago to prevent spamming in the group supportchatrooms, and to ensure that all accounts created are done so manually. Your privacy and confidentiality are safe.Phanvanis a moderator, and I?m sure other mods haven?t stepped in because the question was answered correctly by the other listeners - but if you have any more questions or concerns regarding privacy, feel free to send me a message!

Amazed and surprised that not more people are concerned about this. Disappointed that I cannot know if a moderator has replied and if it is an officialanswer or not. I liked the site a lot but it seems too risky. I suppose I should assume that even when things are supposed to be private and that I am participating anonymously, that if it is on the web, it is public. I guess I have to give up an illusion of any privacy at all. Sad that that is the price to pay for accessing mental healthsupport so badly needed but which I cannot afford otherwise.

Hi @SleeplessInSunnyvale! If you notice @Jadie has already said, the pop up is to ensure your safety. To make sure trolls do not disrupt the safe room. If you are sharing in the Group support rooms or forums, anyone can view the content. However if you are sharing 1-1 your privacy and anonymity is preserved. The listener cannot share chhat details with anyone, neither on the 7 cups nor through any other media. I agree when you are sharing on web it can be a little risky, but we assure you that if you are connecting 1-1 your conversations will be deleted an dthe listener is not allowed to share details with anyone else.

Hi apple74-

Yes, I saw that people have responded, however, there is n way to tell if this is an official reply from the site moderator or another participant, who might wish it to be so but does not really know. Also, the site has not told us in an email that this will happen each time we log in, and how to differentiate this pop up from others which contain malicious code.

The pop ups appear for everyone and there haven't been any complaints about anyone's safety being compromised. I'm not sure whose answer would appease you, though. You can try emailing info@7cups.com and inquire about this issue there.

1) I'd like to be able to know if the response is from a moderator.

2) I'd like some communication from the web admins to let us know this is legit and how to tell a real pop up from a fake one.

Pretty simple, I think.

One stranger vouching for the other is not in my opinion, a secure endoresement.

@SleeplessInSunnyvaleWhat do you mean by "moderator", though? I don't think this site has moderators as you imagine them. I'm a forum moderator, for example.

If you really want to know an answer to these questions, you can email support@7cups.com or info@7cups.com and ask the admin about it. I don't think any of the listeners reading this will be able to satisfy your requirements.
