Caring what people think
I have a major issue with caring what people think about me too much. I actually sit back and ask myself “why are you posting this” “why did you buy that” “why are you saying that” and it’s never because I want to, it’s always to look good for strangers and people who I actually do know. This then turns into insecurity but I’m a master at covering it up and hiding it but I can’t hide it from myself. Even my girlfriend asks me “why do you care” and I never have an answer. I have a good job, pretty good life and I still care what people think about every little thing. I’m not even sure where this insecurity comes from, I’m sure it’s some unresolved trauma from somewhere. Then after every interaction with people I think “maybe I should’ve said ______” I rarely go to social events because I’ll be anxious all night, then I’ll take a shot and feel loose but then I’ll replay the entire night the next day and give myself a headache trying to mentally “fix” a night that nothing went wrong. I also tell myself I have main character syndrome because clearly people have a lot better things to worry about than if I looked cool or lame.
Anyway, any advice would help. I’m ranting

It's easier said than done.
But all you can do is literally go to these social events, put yourself out there, as you are, no pretence, and you'll soon see, other people are not judging, just living their lives.
Try not posting on social media.
It'll allow you not to fixate.
We can caught up in worrying about other people's opinions but in the end, it wastes time, all that matters is the opinions of the ones who know and love you 💙

I strongly agree with "try not posting on social media." I've been through a loop or two of fierce anxiety because of doing the same thing, posting, worrying about what anyone thought about me,untill I just permanently deleted my social media accounts and I'm already feeling better about myself!!!
Its SO much better to be here chatting with you real people who care about each other enough, to be here to lift eachother up!
