My name is Izaiah or Mendo which is a stupid nickname a friend of mine came up with lol. I'm 28 male from the south western United StatesI saw an ad for this app on *** as I was scrolling through. I'm currently on a weight loss journey as my self esteem is below the floor like under the earth really. Honestly I have good days and bad days.Like today I was fine working, but around 3ish pm my time I started freaking out thinking about what to eat for dinner. I'd imagine a normal person would make it work, but not me I started freaking out about calories and what I have and don't have. This sent me down a rabbit hole .. I’m gonna have loose skin? Why couldn’t I be normal? Just a million ideas all at one time lmao.

Either way wanted to say hello and would like to chat with you all.

@mendosceo

 I feel that self esteem really helps to continue on a weight loss journey.... so many have said they want to lose to gain self esteem but IMO that is backward.  we are who we are or are becoming regardless of weight.  Learning to like and or love ourselves give us strength to make changes we want or need.

There will always be new problems like you said when weight loss happens we may have loose skin to need to firm up etc.   it is hard to think what is for dinner for anyone watching calories or other dietary considerations and other people seem oblivious ..as they are not on same path.

I have this discussion with a co-worker and he eats anything he likes and then spend extra time in gym but i have other things going on such as limiting macros so just grab something is NOT possible.

I hope you find support here

Hi Izaiah, thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings so openly. It sounds like you’re going through a challenging time with your weight loss journey and struggling with intense self-criticism and worry. These feelings are really difficult to manage, and I want you to know that you’re not alone in facing them.

First, it’s important to recognize that the pressure you’re putting on yourself is a common experience for many people who are working towards personal goals like weight loss. The anxiety about food and its impact can be overwhelming, and it’s understandable that this led to a cascade of negative thoughts about yourself and your progress.

Try to be gentle with yourself during these moments of distress. It’s okay to have good days and bad days, and it’s important to acknowledge and accept that not every day will be perfect. Your worth is not determined by the fluctuations in your journey or by the concerns about loose skin. It’s a part of the process, and many people experience similar challenges.

When you start to feel overwhelmed by thoughts about calories or how you should be managing your diet, it might help to focus on practical steps that can ground you. For example, creating a flexible meal plan that includes foods you enjoy and that support your goals can reduce anxiety. It’s also helpful to remind yourself that your journey is unique, and comparing yourself to others or striving for “normal” might not always be beneficial.

In moments of high anxiety, practice self-compassion by speaking to yourself kindly. Remind yourself that it’s okay to have concerns and that you’re doing your best. Self-criticism can be harsh and counterproductive, so try to replace it with supportive and affirming self-talk.

Consider celebrating the progress you’ve made so far, regardless of the challenges. Every step forward, no matter how small, is an achievement. Reflect on the positives in your journey and recognize your efforts and resilience.

Lastly, remember that support is available, whether through friends, family, or professionals who can offer guidance and encouragement. It’s okay to reach out for help and to seek advice tailored to your needs.

You’re taking significant steps towards improving yourself and your well-being, and that is commendable. Be patient with yourself, and remember that you deserve kindness and support throughout this journey.

Hi Izaiah!

I first want to congratulate you on the start of your weight loss journey! I know first hand that shyt is HARD, consistency and discipline will be your best friends at this time, along with having some grace with yourself. Like I mentioned, I identify with you bro; I overthink what I’m going to eat, whether I’m doing enough at the gym, how or if results are reflecting, etc… The one thing I can tell you that gets me through my day is to stay in your lane! Not that your sniffing into other people’s business but comparison is the thief of joy and practicing good self talk in those spiraling moments will be your savior and help you in the long run. I’m not where I wanna be at physically AT ALL but by staying in my lane and doing me I ensure that I’m drinking enough water so that loose skin isn’t an issue, workout, eat right, and rest well- not paying attention to anything else but me in those moments yk?

Im a listener on the app so feel free to reach out anytime you need to vent about it! Wishing you the best <3
