I felt so shitty

I have started to and did learn how to set some boundaries when it comes to guys and how i let them to me. It took so much time and effort to seriously work on myself and I go through a very awkwardly uncomfortable situation where a significantly old man waits for me outside a place of worship just so he can ask me "girl do you want a ride" nd something inside my head just goes off and I started to feel so *** about myself. I come off as an outgoing, approachable, warm person and I am that way because I don't like to make people feel unwelcome when they're around me. I was observing (not too evidently, but I did observe) this senior citizen with my peripheral vision that he was looking at me constantly and he saw me walk to towards the exit at the place of worship and he went ahead and waited for me to come out after him and asked me if I wanted a ride and I felt absolutely ***. It was bad. I dont know what to feel about myself. I don't know. Ugh. I kinda feel hopeless.

It sounds like this individual is giving you an inappropriate amount of attention. It is your right to be a warm, outgoing person, regardless of someone else's inappropriate behavior.

It's really good that you are working on boundaries. Even with boundaries, it can feel awkward and uncomfortable to disappoint someone, even if they are making unwelcome advances. However, that's when it's especially important to maintain those boundaries.

If you had a friend who was being "stalked," would you expect her to feel bad about herself?

Why should you feel bad about yourself because of this person's behavior?

It's completely alright. As a women, things like these really get to us sometimes. Like we are only seen as this sexual being and it makes you feel terrible. However, we are more than our appearance. It's nowhere your fault with how things happen with guys and all. You are a person. You are warm and welcoming then that should not be changed due these unimportant interactions.

It can be hard for a woman to navigate the world, there are certain things we have to take into consideration that men do not, this included. Hope you can keep strengthening your boundaries, they are important.

Boundaries are important. Women in society are often taught to be pleasant and “lady like”. It is so difficult for us to set these boundaries when someone is making us feel uncomfortable but we have every right too. We deserve to feel comfortable with protecting ourselves and our safety even at the risk of coming across “rude”. It sounds like you’re developing great insight about this and that is progress- you’re far from hopeless ❤️
