Make it make sense.

This may not make sense but here it goes.

I have a career that I've always wanted. My current company hired me because they needed someone with a certificate that I hold. This company is growing fast and trying to get enough people to fill the roles required to stay compliant is difficult.

Now with that said, I don't feel I am qualified, or know as much as I should to be "needed" in my current position. So many others have come on after me and I feel they are more qualified. I sometimes ask my hire ups if I'm doing OK in my role and they say yeah you're doing great. But in my mind I think, "your not but they need you to fill a spot until they get enough people and then they'll let you go."

I don't know how to tell if I'm genuinely doing well or I'm holding a spot for someone more qualified. I've been in this role for one year. Due to some recent health findings I'll never be able to return to my previous role. I'm scared I'll be let go and then not be able to find employment that will pay my bills.

From what you are saying, for now, you hold a high degree of value due to your certification. However, you do not feel that you are qualified. I applaud you for trying to be thorough with your assessment. I guess my first question would be, is there a way to make you more qualified? Are there classes, courses, self  studies of any type to make you feel that you are better suited to perform your work? From my work experiences, the most coveted roles were the ones that required the most work to hold on to. If there are not any opportunities for improvement, how about participating in classes, conferences, organizations, meetings ...any type of involvement to show that you have a high degree of participation?  And of course, come here and speak to the listeners about your fears or anxiety. I bet you already do that.

Yes and I'm currently enrolled in studies. However I've always struggled with reading comprehension. And this self paced, reading and video schooling is difficult for me so I'm progressing slowly. I'm one of those who asks a lot of questions and needs "too much" clarity. There's no one to ask. And I can't just drop out and find another as I've already paid for this.

I applaud you for all of your effort! I can relate to everything that you have said. I one of those coveted jobs when i worked. I continually having to take classes, exams, certifications, recertifications, it never came to an end. And I feel certain that I have ADHD, as I always struggled with learning. I typically had to write out much of the information in a way that I could assimilate it and learn it. Outlining was another method that I used. And of course, I would use my voice recorder and record information so that I could listen on the way to work and on errands. You are probably too busy to have time for the listeners. However, if there is ever a time that you need a listener, I would be glad to help you out. I admire your determination and I believe in you!
