So behind
Am at a mini family reunion. My younger cousins all getting careers and stuff. Married. I never dated anyone and have only had two jobs. Only just recently got my own apt. With alot of finicial help. Feeling so dang behind in life for everything. Overmedication and depression ate up my entire youth. Now i have nothing and seemingly need to play catch up in a town that doesnt really fly in. Feel so lost and ashamed. Has anyone bern in a situation like this and its got better? Im badically starting from absolute scratch ten years too late. I worry no jobs or careers would take me. Ill do anything im capable of, i just dont know what that is.

My sister lost 10 years due to medication (she could not work during this time). She's been to a psychiatry and had shame connected to the lost years. Basically, the medication adjustments needed time to work (they tried lots of meds). In the beginning, she used to be tired all the time and had varying levels of symptoms. About 2 years ago, she moved to my place and I took care of her. She had a lot of fear from starting work, physical symptoms too. She used to get diarrhea only due to her fear of the workplace/responsibility (we did lots of medical examinations, there were no physical reasons). She had low confidence and was low on motivation. Now, 2 years later, she has had her current job for almost 2 years. Her colleagues love her, and she can learn some skills too (she is a receptionist). She lives alone now and is planning to get a language exam. She is happier than ever. But it took time and patience.
It was not easy for you for years. But now you're doing better, right? In your place, I would make up the lost years by looking around and trying things you might enjoy. See if you can get interested in a hobby that you can get good at. Try things in a curious way and put no pressure on yourself, you're a total beginner, just see what you enjoy generally. Also, I would ask help from people around you to help you get a job. You can go sit together with a friend/family member in a café and figure out what work you could do and put together a CV, apply for jobs together, discuss the plan or prepare for an interview. At least that's what we did with my sister. If the cousins ask, you're figuring out yourself. :)
Good luck!

Who is really keeping score ?
Many people have setbacks even people who get a career and life going does not mean depression or some other circumstance will not sideline them down the road.. maybe they end up starting over from scratch ....
we do not know what jobs we excel in until we try... i found a couple of jobs that advanced me to other things... life and opportunities happen to those who look for chances and take them ....
