i like a girl but idk if she likes me back so I’ve been trying to change myself in order for her to approach me and I am so self conscious that I worry that she will reject me that I’ve been criticizing myself right now i feel pathetic

Playing like you are who you believe she wants is always a losing move....
If a person likes you they need to like you not a part you are playing. Either approach her to be friends and see if something works. Maybe she is not whom you believe her to be.
Relationships are hard enough without the games of finding out a person does not like the things they pretended to to get your attention in the first place and start all over trying to get to know each other.
