Write down some positive things about yourself
How do you even start to build your self esteem? Every course I've done, every book every bit of advice pretty much starts the same way 'write down some positive things about yourself'. I might be confusing whatever I have with low self esteem because surely if you can do that step you don't have low self esteem. I always fall at these first hurdle and people end up looking at me like I'm being deliberately difficult and don't want to put the effort in.
How do you get past the stage where you can't think of any positive qualities that you have?

I can understand why you feel stuck. It is so frustrating when books ask you to use the very confidence you are currently missing. You are not being difficult. It is just hard to see your own value when your brain has a literal blind spot for it.
Instead of hunting for big positive traits, it can be easier to just look at neutral facts. Things like showing up to work or finishing a small task are not things you have to feel proud of yet. They are just proof that you are still here and participating. You are not failing the process. You are just starting from a much more honest and grounded place than those books usually account for. <3

Hello , great question! My hack for building self-esteem is lying to yourself ...for example if you feel like you look terrible say "I look AMAZING today" it will feel strange at first but it's called "rewiring your brain" give it a shot.

One positive thing you can accept is the fact that you have enough courage to self examine. So many lack this quality.
Another is that you are here seeking help. That takes humility.
And those are two powerful and positive (and might I add, Godly) qualities you can start with.
I hope that helps.
@Indigopineapple maybe you could ask a friend.
