First time you ever experimented with self-harm?
I ised to pitch and scratch myself for years without really knowing what I was doing. then one summer I wanted to hurt myself as a relief and I cut myself when the summer was over so that nobody would know. it hurt so bad but I couldn't stop. I always say I knew I was getting better when it hurt to cut again because that was normal and how it should feel. I was finally not numb to it all.
I had a panic attack and when I do that I tic, or pace, I count, I do repetitive things. This time I scratched, just in one place, i wound up giving myself a friction burn. And because I dissociate, my boyfriend at the time had to stop me and hold my hands down, otherwise I just kept scratching. Later I tried a couple times with a razor blade, it didn't hurt, or maybe I was too afraid to do it so it did hurt, but it wasn't satisfying and I stopped after once or twice. My really bad panic attacks still make me try to scratch myself though, not sure where that comes from....
I started at 15. I don't know why I did it but I used a pocketknife on my arm. I was really upset because my friend had said some really hurtful things to me. I was hurt and sad because o had considered her my best friend.
i was 13 in the beginning. i have tried it when i found out my first love was fallen for my best friend instead of me. i went out to the bathroom at night, found a razor blade and made little cuts. (i stopped cutting a few months ago.)
I started at age 11, and I used a sharpener blade because I was rejected by a guy I'd had a crush on for 3 years.
The first time I did it was a few months after my 15th birthday. I felt so muddied up inside, and I didn't know what to do. I used a pin, the kind you put a poster in the wall with. It hurt so bad, but it was like I couldn't stop. I started using a tool from the craft room in my house, then soon took the blade out of a pencil sharpener, and eventually took a blade from a utility knife. I used to not do it very deep, but now I have to put my arm over a piece of paper every time I do it because it bleeds so much. My carpet has bloodstains, and I don't know what I'd tell my parents if they noticed. I've been doing it for 9 months now. Nobody has ever noticed...
@KleeJassy I cut on my ankle and so I have bloodstains on my socks and I don't know what to tell my parents either.. I started cutting 4 months ago and my friends are starting to notice and it's awefull.. I just want to run away.. have you ever talked to a psychologist? talking about it helps a lot, and hey, I care about you
@tallTalker7163 My advice would be try talking to people you trust. Whether a friend, sibling, parent, teacher, whoever. Personally for me, talking to people doesn't seem to help me, but maybe I just haven't talked to the right person yet. I've never talked to phycologist, because I have no way to contact one without telling my parents....which I can't do... Thanks for reaching out :) I really appreciate it
(Sorry I replied so late. I didn't have a way to get to 7 Cups)
@KleeJassy no problem, what about a school psychologist ? don't you have any? you can talk to me whenever you want :) I'm here for you
@tallTalker7163 Would school phycologist be required to tell my parents if they knew I was self-harming? I go to online school, but I know there's a counsellor I can call. She and my Creative Writing teacher called me about a week ago and asked me a few questions to make sure I can ok, because I'd submitted a short story about a girl who killed herself. I...lied to them.... Because I thought if I told them it was about me, they'd tell my parents. Is there a way we can talk privately? I would honestly love to talk to you :)
@KleeJassy not in my school, my school psychologist doesnt told my friend's parents when she told her she self-harm, you should really try to talk to someone, and yeah sure we could talk
@tallTalker7163 I briefly talked to my school counsellor and told her about my depression. I also discreetly asked if she would have to tell a student's parents if she found out they were self-harming, and she said yes....
Ok, and if there's anything you would want to talk to me about, I would love to listen :)
@KleeJassy if you want to have a private conversation, go to "search listeners " and search for : blitheHand96 , this is my other account :) would love too help you
I started Self-Harming when I was 8 years old. (Trigger Warning) It was bruising at first but it escalated quickly into scratching then cutting when I was around 11. The cutting got a lot worse as time went on and now, 3 years on its worse than ever.
I think the first time I really tried to hurt myself on purpose was when I was around five or six years old.
I was in seventh grade and life didn't make sense anymore. I started cutting the inside of my palm with a razor blade to distract myself from everything that was going on at the time. It became an addiction and I moved to my stomach so no one would see. It got worse and worse until one day...it didn't help anymore. I stopped because the pleasure of the act suddenly left. This was about 6 months ago and I hope I can keep it up.
@energeticSpring4866 I'm proud of you!!! I wish I could agree:(
My first time self harming was this year during volleyball season. I broke a razor and i began to scrap it across my leg. I realize it isn't as bad as other people's stories but I still did it. I've done it several times after that. I always choose the same spot on my leg and I cut my arm but I was to afraid to show my family so I hid it. At school I didn't care who saw. Nobody really noticed and if they did they didn't care.
