First time you ever experimented with self-harm?
I was seventeen and had just lost my mother. I was facing such a mix of emotions -- fear, anger, grief. And I wanted it all to go away. I think it was two weeks after she passed that I used the razor. I'm happy to say that it's been two months since I last self-harmed; it's been one of my earliest struggles, and one of my latest to overcome, but I'm happy to see I think i have.
I was 11 and it was peer pressure, but over the years it got worse, I had a dry period of 2 years, but then had a relapse last year in January. I'm going to be 18 in less than a week and I'll be celebrating my birthday with a count of over 300 marks on me. Happy birthday
@PikachuDiaries I'm sorry to hear this...
I was in 7th grade when I started getting bullied at an all-girls school. My parents got a divorce, a guy I liked didn't like me back, my friends turned their backs on me. This was a really tough time for me so I one day decided to take a scissors and cut myself with the blade. I used to do it every evening. It took ages for my mom to find out... and now, 5 years after stopping I want to start again. It almost feels like I have to do it and I don't know how to get over this feeling...
@callmekitten97 When those thoughts come acknowledge them, but don't act on them. Tell yourself "I have made it five years, and I need to keep up that streak." Then, go and do something you love doing. It can be anything, as long as it doesn't harm you and it's fun. Just go and engage in one of your favorite hobbies. You can make it through this! You are a strong, wonderful person who deserves love, kindness, and respect!
My first time self harming was in 6th grade. My depression and injury seemed to be taking over and my family was swimming in hospital bills for the injury and I simply couldn't take it anymore. I told my self I was not worth everything people were doing for me so I got the sharpest thing I could find and sliced my thighs with a steak knife:(
4th year of high school. Had a frined who was doing it. I was trying to fit in and also wanted to find an outlet for repressed emotions.
I was 13 and I didn't exactly know what was wrong with me, I knew in my heart I was depressed and I needed help but my family wouldn't understand, and I didn't think they'd be supportive. So I would take scissors and cut myself, and it's been an on and off struggle for almost 8 years now.
6th grade. I was losing everything and I needed it.
I think it was right before 6th grade
I was seven, and I was yelled at and thought it was all I had
I was 12 and I first just used a maths compass then a pencil sharpener blade then a knife. I have been cutting for three years now
