I was 11. I wish I had known that at 25 I'd still struggle. I never would have done it

About two years ago I started by taking the blade from a handheld pencil sharpener. This lasted for a few months before I was caught and turned into the school counselor. I was made to see a therapist and I stopped for a while. Recently though I started up again using some random blades and a sharpened paper clip.

roughly 6 years ago, started punching walls. Stopped for about 6 months, started again in year 7, punching walls and cutting from my finger tips to the tops of my arms with a sharpener blade i had broken out of its casing. Stopped for a good long time because of support from my friends and started again at the end of year 9, ive been doing it ever since with about two month breaks imbetween. im now near the end of year eleven, long story short self harming since i was 10 and im currently close to 16

not proud of any of it

I first started when I was 10-11. I scratched my skin until I was bleeding and it hurt like hell. After a while, I stopped, but starter cutting instead. That lasted for a long time, and sometimes I still do it. It's upsetting to know that I can't control myself. My friend used to cut too, but she stopped and she's getting a lot better. I feel like I'm getting worse.

I started while I was in a relationship. I was being neglected and minorly abused by someone I was manipulated into thinking I loved and at some point I just started cutting my thighs. I'm not exactly sure why I did or what I thought that would accomplish, but after this person and I broke up 3-4 years ago my habits are coming back and worse than before.

I was in grade 7 (age 11 or 12) and I wasn't fitting in at school, after moving back to my home country in grade 6th. My best friend was a delinquent and people were picking on me because I was new and different. I had sought comfort from men online but they mostly just wanted to introduce me to the sexual world, which I knew nothing about. My perspective on sex was biased, as after that I didn't get any formal sex education. My experimentation with self harm didn't leave any marks and it wasn't until 10 years later, when I was once again trying to seek comfort but wrongly from men online, to escape some pain from roommate abuse, that I cut intentionally again, leaving permanent and visible marks. This time it was because the ex roommate had left a very degrading and public note saying I was acting like a victim, just a week after I left the man who took all my firsts, and raped me. The self harm that night was very closely linked to suicide.
