First time you ever experimented with self-harm?
I used my finger nail and it felt so good getting all that anger out. I just kept doing it
I started at 10, i didnt know what i was doing at first all i knew was that it felt good, i progressed to razors and attempts at other things when i was 13 and now i can even get a job because they require certain uniforms that would show the scars, i hope you all feel better one day, i hope you all will be happy, i hope
The first time was 7th grade for a really stupid reason and then sophomore year because I was trying to find relief for my depression but it doesnt work for me so I'm still lost
The first time I self-harmed I was 12 years old. I was in the shower and I remember I had spotted something silver in the bathtub. I bent down to pick it up and it was a blade from a razor. It turns out my sister had accidentally broken her razor in the shower earlier and thought she'd grabbed it all. I remember staring at this sharp piece of metal for awhile. I had been feeling so depressed and overwhelmed lately and was crying in the shower. I still don't know what possessed me to drag it across my skin, I had never heard about self-harm before, but I'll never forget how good it felt. I felt relief from all the pain I was feeling. I'm now 19 years old and still struggling to overcome this horrible coping skill. So, if you haven't done this before don't do it. It isn't worth it. I am covered in scars. I've had stitches multiple times. Once you get addicted to it, it's never good enough. You always want to go deeper and cut more. It's a horrible thing. Stay strong everyone.
I was 15 when I first started to self-harm. I stopped for a number of years but have recently started again.
It was late summer of 2012. Life was falling apart and I cut. Not deep but many many times on my wrist. I wore an extra wide leather bracelet everywhere for about a month after that not telling anyone of it. The following month I cut again and while visiting family I remember my dad asking about what I was scratching my wrist.(I had long sleeves on at the time.) It was healing and scratched so yeah... I just made it off to be something I got while out with the horses. Haha... I cut again shortly after that.... twice. My best friend and the guy I loved decided he couldn't get into a long distance relationship and asked one of his other friends out.... yup. That hurt. Shortly after he found out and he became increasingly protective of me. I pushed him away and didn't talk to him for a couple of weeks. Over which time I broke the promise we had made. My side was not to cut and his was to stay out of drugs. I cut twice more over that time and felt so guilty. Within a matter of 8months I cut 6 times and am proud to say I haven't cut since. That doesn't mean I haven't thought about it though... alot. Over the past to weeks it has been a ever growing thought in my mind. I've been able to hurt myself in other ways over the years too. Punching things and bruising myself up. I've gotten away from that as well right now and I'm trying to be better to myself even though I feel the same feelings as then if not worse. So... yeah... fun...
A friend told me it was a way to cope with sadness. I decided try it on my arm. I was about 11-12 years of age when it first started. I had stopped then began again. I now have completely stopped but I ended up developing bulimia.
I was bullied all of elementary school. Just when i thought things couldnt get worse, i found a picture of my dad kissing another woman on his computer. I didnt tell my mom but she eventually found it too and thats when i told her ivhad already seen it. I was 13, family was important to me and i didnt want anything to change, but it did. My life went downhill from there and thats when i began to self harm. It wasnt just that, more obstacles came along the way but it wasnt easy. I never slit my wrists because i knew that it would be somewhere harder to hide, but i would hurt myself by burning my finger, or cutting on my butt cherks and below the boob where i thought it wouldntbe obvious. Ive bene clean for 2 years now, im17. But recently things have been triggering me to go back to it, but im really trying not to
Middle school. I was coming into my own and decided I wanted to be individual. I started wearing what I wanted to wear, saying what I wanted to say, things like that. That was around the time I discovered that I have OCD. The intrusive thoughts that I've had, well, I thought that they were normal. I started freaking out that I wasn't normal, but I guess be careful what you wish for. Ha. After realizing that I had a mental affliction I developed something similar to imaginary friends. I think it may have been my way of coping. I couldn't physically see them, but I could hear them. They started as voices in my head and then developed personalities. It was nice for a while. Then they started saying negative things, I believed them, unfortunately and started cutting. I was using scissors until I was given a pocket knife as a gift. I continued cutting up until senior year. That knife was my savior. Then I met my wonderful boyfriend who made me throw away that thing. Doing much better now, thanks to him. But, the voices are still there along with the OCD which has gotten a bit worse since high school.
I was 18 when I first started self harming. I wanted to see what a broken bone felt like . I decided to numb a toe a bent it till it broke. I don't no why I do it but 30 now and continue to hurt myself. Just wish I could stop
