First time you ever experimented with self-harm?
The first time I ever experimented with self harm I was 8 years old. Afterwards, it led to anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and paranoia. I just felt so alone and very out of control..
The first time I self harmed I was 11 and I remember it like it was yesterday. I remember I felt pathetic for barely breaking skin and then it spiraled out of control from there and I've been struggling with it really badly for about 8 years now. I'm very far into recovery but there isn't a day that goes by when I don't think about it and that's the scariest part....
it was actually a few weeks ago. i cut about 4 small lines on the back of my hand. i didn'tcut very deep though so they have already faded. i am promising myself ill never do it again because of the shame i feltin class when i had to turn my hand over so people wouldnt see.
About 5 years ago. I've been off and on since then. Its an addiction, my stress reliever, but I'm ashamed.
Oh... I must've been 14 or 15... But it's been about a year since I've stopped :)
I don't remember my exact age..probably around 10 or 11 when I was starting puberty. I was just starting to be a little more aggressive (in private) and would punch my bed and then punch myself. I wasn't happy with myself at times. I've never self-harmed often. I started different methods as I got older and just last semester when I was in school I became majorly depressed. I became so angry and hateful towards myself that I couldn't stop myself from crying. I was scared but I cut for the first time and it's almost habit of mine when I break down to nothing but a sea of goo. I found a new alternative for myself to try whenever I feel this way now though. It was a struggle to even pick up my pencil, but I wrote a poem when I really couldn't stop myself from crying. It took a while to gain energy to write, but once I was halfway done, I gained enough to finish. I felt so empowered afterwards. Do you have a release or expressive alternative to self-harm?
When im extremely emotional i turn what im feeling into a story. I write until i get to the end of the page then i turn the paper 90degrees and continue writing so the words crosshatch. Usually the stories are tragic and raw and only one person has read a select couple but, it helps release emotions a bit.
I was 13, lost my grandma, family problems at home, all of my friends turned against me, just a really rough time of my life, I felt so lonely & depressed & the only way to relieve all of the pain was to self harm until my arms were covered. I eventually stopped at the age of 15. I'm almost 18 now, & haven't self harmed since. Still depressed but I have new ways to cope. Also, I am beyond proud of myself.💗
I am so proud of you ❤
A couple of weeks ago, so very recently. It wasn't very deep but I feel like it could get out of control soon and that scares me...
Do you've anyone you can talk to?
I was about 14 or 15 when I first took a razor to my arm. At the time, I didn't think much of it, didn't think it was really an "issue," so to speak. The cut itself was very small, and hardly penetrated the skin. I wrote about it in a journal.. and I guess my mom must've read it.Is it true? Tell me it's not true. I was caught.
It's been going on and off since then. The last time I cut, I believe it was just last year during autumn. I get the urge to do it again, but I haven't yet and intend to keep it that way. It's just so hard though ;/
I was maybe around 12 or 13 and I did it with a scissor. It didn't leave anything other than a scratch that could easily be washed off. I've now been using a piece of glass now.
