I had just had enough one day. I told someone and they congratulated me??? it was weird and they told me how brave I was for cutting so deep on my first try. now I'm addicted.

My now ex girlfriend of 2 years lied to me about having breast cancer and when I found out I broke down and spiraled into depression and anxiety and then I began to self harm.

Pretty sure I started cutting fall of 2013. It's been off and on. Not deep, just small scratches with a razor. It stings enough to make me feel better but are inconspicuous enough that I can blame my cat. I used to cut deeper but not as much anymore. It gets worse in the summer when I can't see my friends everyday. I'm going to college in a little over a year and I'm considering telling my mom and my psychiatrist, but I don't want to freak my mom out. Really not sure what to do at this point. I don't want to give it up but I want to get better.

I was 7, and found that a cousin did it because she was depressed about her relationship. I thought if I did that when I was sad I would feel better. I did a few times and then I forgot. When I was 11 my dad kept calling me "useless" for everything. Then I grabbed a cutter, and wrote "useless" in my skin. Because I was, and still I am.

I was 19. I was losing my best friend of ten years because she was finally bursting out of the closet (really good for her). But I needed her there. I had been depressed for five years already, refusing to do meds. I wasn't doing well in college and when I failed things I normally hit myself, punished myself. I had access to blades where I worked. It was easy. I took one and sliced my thigh. It felt empowering and the monsters went away. So I soon got hooked from that day.

I feel like I probably way over reacted. But I had feelings for my friend who is straight. As we were saying goodbye I gave him a hug and he reacted like it was really unwanted and weird but I apologized and he said it was okay. Even though I know it wasn't OK. I walked home and it kept playing over and over again in my mind how unwanted it was and how much he didn't like it. I felt horrible..I felt like a disgusting monster. When I got home I couldn't stop telling myself over and over what a monster I was. I got extremely upset and just started cutting everywhere my arms my legs my stomach my thighs anywhere I could reach. In my head I kept saying this is what I deserve. I'm a monster. I still feel like a monster sometimes. But at least I rarely use cutting to cope anymore.

It was winter time I was really stressed and doing shitty in school. I had only a few months prior confrontedmy mother about abusing me as a child. She and I hadn't spoken for a while and I was scared about having to go home at the end of the semester in just a few days. I thought about killing myself. I made the first cut in my arm and then texted a friend. I went to her dorm and she made me hot chocolate. She saved my life. Thanks Hannah.
