Self harm could also be where say you're friends with someone and you do something to sabotage the relationship thereby you're not only hurting yourself but the other person

Yesterday i was sleep deprived. like truly sleep deprived. I was exhausted and my body was shutting down on me because of it. I had every opportunity to take a nap but instead i forced myself to stay awake any way i could. Just because i knew it was hurting me to not sleep.....

To me, it's feeling so alone and wanting it to all be over. The pain, words, harshness of it all. Pain I can control.

To me self harm is when someone is intentionally hurting themselves. Whether it be cutting, burning, pulling hair, biting yourself, starving, purging, hitting something, etc. It may lead to suicidal thoughts, and it is very very easy to become addicted. When things are difficult and you are in a lot of emotional pain, self harm may become a coping mechanism, though I must admit a very bad one... It is something I struggle with. I am currently 36 days clean, and it gets harder with every day. I am trying to recover for my best friend. Times when I want to give in and cut, I remember him and it stops me. I am slowly becoming less dependent on self harm. Yes, I feel like I need it, but I am trying to get better. 90% of my brain thinks about dying and food. Self harm has taken over my life. Don't let your mind become like this. Please, if you are dealing with any kind of self harm, I urge you to get help. Talk to your friends and family. It's scary as h3ll but you will feel less alone. If they are no help to you, or just make everything worse, like my parents do, there is always someone who would be glad to talk to you about your problems. There are people who care. I think this site/app is a great place for support. Other places I know of are Twitter (look for #ProjectLG and you are sure to find someone who will listen), and omegle.com .

Self-harm is when you understandingly choose physical pain just so you can feel something at all. It's telling yourself that physical pain will distract you and hurt you less than the pain you already feel. It's punishing yourself for what you've done.

Self Harm is something that arises when an individual becomes so "distressed" that they struggle to cope with their emotions and the only way they manage to cope with them is by harming themselves

> physical pain fighting emotional pain

For me self harm

Is..

> pain from the cut makes me feel better

> when I cut it helps me to regulate my emotions better

> it helps me to forget..

> I don't care about the scars..I dont care about the pain

For me , self- injury is the way to demonstrate the shame that you have for something from you , either the body, or is it , how to be . For me self injury is the way to combat the emotional pain with physical pain , because for me a cut, burn , blow .... is much less painful than an insult , a comparison , a mockery.

I think that self harm stems from a sense of self hatred and can be done in many different ways whether this is physically or just telling yourself that you're not worthy
