Hello all! In my free time, I enjoy writing about self-help topics. So I will share some of my writings in this forum. Enjoy :)

So often we forget to take care of ourselves. However, id argue that deliberately taking care of ourselves is what gives us the strength to take care of others, stay focused in our jobs, get out of our comfort zones and get in touch with the things that truly make us happy in life.

Today, I want to share my 3 tips for making self-care part of your routine!

Tip 1: Know your signals

We all have signals indicating that its time to take a self-care break! These signals could come in many forms, but some examples of signals you may experience are: burn out, easily agitated or getting less joy out of activities that usually bring you great joy. We each have our own signals, so take some time to figure out, reflect and deliberately notice what yours are, keeping in my that they may be hard to spot at first.

Tip 2: Make the time for it

When you start to notice a few of your signals popping up, dont ignore them, recognize them, say hello and then figure out how and when you can work in some self-care time. We all have busy schedules, but finding time to take care of you, especially when your signals are screaming at you, is vital to your success in baking in a self-care practice. Even if you only have 5 minutes to do a quick meditation, do it. Take ownership of self-care by making the time for it.

Tip 3: After self-care, check-in with yourself

You want to make sure that whatever the self-care practice you engaged in is actually working for you. So for example, if you took a self-care break to go on a walk and then realized after the walk that your signals were still firing and you felt no relief, take note of that. Next time, experiment with a different self-care practice till you find a few that always work for you.

Additionally, take notice of the relief that you feel after a positive self-care break. Give yourself a pat on the back. Remember self-care is just about showing yourself kindness, love and attention. Sometimes the only people who can make us feel better is ourselves!
