Is it always like this??
I found and downloaded the 7 cups app today in an attempt to find anonymous help with something work related that was causing me a lot of anxiety, stress, and even loss of sleep. I was hoping I had finally found a way to talk to someone objective and removed from the situation (and a community to talk to about my own mental health struggles) and could find some peace of mind but maybe not...
the person I was talking to stopped answering for over an hour and it took me researching on Google to figure out that they had blocked me??? I said and did nothing out of policy, I talked about and gave details about the situation and that was all. It left me genuinely depressed and with a bad taste in my mouth...
Some people on the forums were saying this happens a lot and that's hardly comforting for a site that's about helping each other.....

Sadly, this is common. It doesn't take long to become a listener and if you allow a listener to pick you from the request line I think there's a higher probability of coming across ones that are less than great due to how the system works (ie. those listeners are less likely to have regular members, the ones who take on 5+ chats at a time are going to pick up from the requests, etc).

I came to 7 cups looking for someone to talk to as well...so far I have not actually found a single person willing to actually talk to me at all in one-on-on chat. After reading your post here, I'm starting to think maybe that's for the best! I've found the forums quite helpful, but the whole reason I came to the site was because I wanted someone to talk to about issues in my life in a chat format. It seems like that does in fact work for some people here, but it's very hit and miss. So far the only one who's been willing to talk to me is Noni.

@GreenCosmonaut I have also had several people block me completely out of nowhere, and I was also distressed about it. It's happened to me both as a member (blocked by Listeners) and as a Listener (blocked by members). I could never make any sense of it, and it left me wondering if there was something I was doing wrong that I didn't even realize. Someone has suggested to me that it may be due to a glitch in the site, which is certainly possible. I've come to the conclusion that even if it is something the person has done intentionally, it their issue and not mine, because I am perfectly respectful in chats. I think it is a common occurence on this site, unfortunately, and it's something that many of us have gotten somewhat used to. I know it is upsetting, and I'm sorry it's made you lose faith in the site. I don't have a solution to offer, but I just wanted to let you know that I've had the same experience and I share your concerns.
