Members: I Have A Question For You!

As you may already be aware, the listener side of 7 Cups is a bustling land of opportunity! In addition to listening, listeners can get involved in numerous projects, join various teams, and learn and grow within new roles (like peer support, moderating and mentoring). We're aware that right now, there is a lot less opportunity on the member side and we're feeling a little bit bad about this. sad

So far, we've offered members the opportunity to lead discussions and to become Welcome Guides... but at 7 Cups we believe that you are actually the experts on you. With that in mind, it makes sense to just hold our thoughts for a moment and ask the experts themselves!

╰☆╮If you could create a new role or project on 7 Cups for members to get involved in, what would it be?╰☆╮

✦ It must be something that you would like to do as a member.
✦ It's absolutely okay to think outside the box and be creative.
✦ And that's all! :)

Please post your thoughts and ideas below. I'm excited to hear what you come up with!

Open a room for 50 and older! The 35 and older was a great start.

Even though i've just joined about something like people documenting how the site has helped them grow and taken them out of the dark place they found themselves in like in a short story form,a song, animation or a simple video message.

To members to get involved themselves , i would launch a forum where they could submit their drawing pics based on topic that memebrs would free to think in their imgination ...like to draw a pic of the world that they want to live into ... or to draw the pic of the most memorable place they have been in their life till now .... or i would ask them to write story about any random topic choosen by them ...

all those entries would be published witht their name for visitors of 7cups....

Thanks.

If you can introduce a Motivation group and if possible a "motivator" badge it'd be great as well as beneficial for those who really want that push and head start to get over their depression

I like the variety of 'Emojis' that come along with a feeling or expression.

Instead of going along with the trend...

I think having a reference to a chatroom or forum that is always trending/permanent, people can constantly relate to where there lives are currently being lived as upon their responses and also, recognize how much themselves have changed.

Good or Bad results, I think it's a great idea!

Sounds pretty technical, but in simplicity, the new idea you want to present isn't technical at all with the support on 7 Cups of Tea :)

I think it would help to give members a list of basic guidelines that they can expect listeners and to abide by. It could be something Noni could say whilst people are waiting. Vulnerable people often blame themselves if a chat goes badly, this means that sometimes a poor listener doesn't get reported. Having the assurance that certain things shoul not be happening could help.

This would complement the quality initiatives on the listener side, by flagging listeners who need extra support.

@Playingwithstring

Hey there, lovely, thank you so much for all of your lovely feedback! You may be interested to know that our lovely CM Laura has already put together a great guide on what members can expect from listeners, which you can find here, and amazing forum ambassdor @MonBon made a great guide on how to act around the site.

I do understand, though, these guides are not in the most obvious places, and as you quite rightly said, bad listeners aren't always reported! We do have a variety of quality initiatives on the listener side, namely that all new members are mandated to connect to a quality mentor (a listener leader authorised to help them improve on their listening), but we can always go further!

I do really like the idea of Noni reminding members about what they can expect from a listener, or even perhaps links to the above guides, please do add this to the suggestion box so that it can be reviewed by community managers, as sometimes ideas can get a bit lost in the forums!

@Lyra Thanks Lyra, these are exactly what I had in mind. As you say, things can get lost in the forums. I've mailed the suggestion box. Thanks🙂
