US English
I notice my member account has been set to English (US) and I cannot correct it to English (GB). Is this useful or sensible?
It has not affected my listener account yet, which is still plain English.
Related to this, I came across an example of English (Cornwall) from the south-west of England:
Ee wuz fo-wur fut nuthun,
eed go ta a do un sey,
'Who wuz tha tallust bloke
furr I cum un.'
And here's an example of English (Glasgow) from Scotland:
ahmaz goodiz thi lota yiz so ah um
ah no whit ahm dayn
tellnyi
jiss try enny a yir fly patir wi me
stick thi bootnyi good style
so ah wull
These, and many more, would be included in English (GB), I suppose. Of course, only dialect poets write like this. Most people who write in English write in a way that's pretty much recognizable as English everywhere in the world.
Are there really such great differences between the varieties of other written languages (not spoken dialects) that we need country identifiers at 7 Cups?
