Website emergency exit tweak
Here's a way to add an emergency exit button to the website.
If someone comes along and you don't want them to see what's on your screen, you can press the Exit button to blank the page instantly and then load a Google search page.

This only works in some web browsers, and it requires some setting up that takes a couple of minutes. For all the details see the document: Website Tweaks Overview
If you already have it all set up and you just want to install this tweak, here's the link: Install
If you want to customize how the button works after you've installed it, here's the settings page: Tweak Settings
The main forum thread for all of this is: Web site tweaks
For information about other tweaks, see the document: List of Tweaks
If you have comments or suggestions about the exit button in particular, feel free to reply here or send me a message.
What a wonderful addition to 7 Cups! Some people have abusive/ controlling folks in their lives that could become very upset once they realize the person they want to control is reaching out for emotional and other support. This is a vital tool, and I am so pleased that ya'll made it available. Thank you, team!
@TransAm85 Please take a look at this!! Forward to anyone you know who might need it, ok? <3 Thinking of you and hoping you are well. @BridgetAileen maybe you know someone else who might need this in their toolbox.
Excellent addition! Thanks for the tag, @ladylazarus1971.
@RarelyCharlie - what a very cool contribution. Reminds me of the old "boss key" in games that put up a spreadsheet on the screen.
Haha! Yes, exactly
I orignally named it "The Boss Is Coming" and it's still called tbic internally.
Another idea I saw is to make the site look like something else. To see an example, go to the Welsh Women's Aid website and press the Disguise This Site button at the top. But I have no plans to do that here.
@kindofblue
I am not sure how I feel about these add-ons you created. I believe you should put more instructions also.
Do we need to install this on all our devices to work? Computer/Phone/Tablet/etc? On which browsers does this work? Windows/Mac? ...
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
You're right, there is a need for instructions. As I wrote above, for all the details see the document:Website Tweaks Overview
Yes, you do need to install it on each device where you need it. Unfortunately only computers have the capability for the most part, although I've read it can also be done on Android devices. There's a list of browsers that can do it in the document. I'm not aware that Windows/Mac (or, indeed, Linux) causes any problem or makes anything different.
I hope this helps.

There is an app put out in the US from Robin McGraw's Aspire Initiative/ When Georgia Smiled Foundation that has this form of disguised emergency exit on it. It is a truly amazing app that provides help to victims of domestic abuse. In addition to this potentially life-saving emergency disguise button, you can alo use the app to inform pre-programmed friends/family/assistance organizations with a message of your choice when you hit 1 simple button. That way, when you are in an emergency or urgent situation and/or are actively leaving your abuser, your support system becomes actively engaged immediately.
More info can be found on this app and other assistance for domestic violence in every age level including pre-teen, young adult, and older adult by checking out www.whengeorgiasmiled.org
