Tragedy, Crisis, and Disaster Response

I'm sure many of you have heard about the recent tragedy in Paris. The crisis in Syria, earthquakes, and school shootings are several more recent disasters that have been brought to our collective awareness. Early on, we conceptualized one part of 7 cups as being a platform that can aid in disaster recovery. At the time, we didn't really have the scale that we have now today so we kind of struggled to get that piece off the ground. We did, however, create a psychological first aid training guide (listeners you can find this in training) and we outlined a plan we could implement when crises struck.

Many of you have pinged me today asking how we can respond. It feels like maybe now we are in a place where we can work as a community to help bring healing during these troubled times.

@Jake launched a thread and plan here to better address the Paris issue.

Feels like we can learn from this and create a solid team/plan that we can implement whenever the next crisis arises. Based on what we conceptualized earlier, and what we learn from the Paris initiative, please help sort through/organize any ways we can provide help in disaster recovery.

Here are some initial observations:

1. Forum threads seem helpful in that they help collaboration, can be updated, and can point to specific resources.

2. Discussion rooms can be open to address the specific issues.

3. Group discussions can be led to help people process the issues.

4. We can point people to specific URLs on browse listeners that bring up listeners in the relevant country or listeners that speak the language.

5. We can create a social outreach/media plan to help people know of our efforts to provide support around that issue.
