A Friendly Reminder on Problem Solving!
Hello Community!
I wanted to take a moment to chat about problem solving & brainstorming as a community! As you all know, we are an incredibly diverse and thoughtful community. We all work hard to make 7 Cups a kind, thoughtful and supportive environment. Each and every one of you brings light and love to our amazing community. Many of you have ideas as to how to make 7 Cups even better! We love your ideas and want to continue to hear them.
A community that actively problem solves together is what we hope to accomplish. If you would like to learn more about problem solving, how to frame a problem in a professional way and how to brainstorm ideas on how to solve that problem, you can check out this thread.
Specifically, as a community we approach problems like this:
1. Identify the problem as specifically as you can.
2. Create the goal - this is almost always the opposite of the problem.
3. Come up with a potential solution to the problem.
4. Try the solution. Did it work? If yes, fantastic! Keep doing it. If it didn't work, try another solution. Did that work? If no, try another. Just keep trying solutions until you find one that works.
This framework allows for us to approach problems in a methodical way. We can test solutions and brainstorm ideas. I use this method whenever I am working to solve a problem accross the site.
If you feel yourself becoming upset or frustrated during your time at 7 Cups, we encourage you to do some self-care..You can always submit your ideas via the suggestion box too. We go through these ideas and implement them as we are able. Over past 6 months, ideas from the community we have been able to implement:
-----> My forum posts page
-----> Pinned threads in sub-forums
-----> Gender on Listener profiles
-----> Updates to the sponsor program/ branding & communication around this program
-----> Launch sub-communities on topics requested by the community
-----> Badge locked subcommunities for leadership projects & groups
-----> Mod names added to warnings in group support
-----> updates to community guidelines - ongoing
-----> Leadership tab added to the 7 Cups team page to highlight all of you
We are always actively trying to include you by hearing your feedback on ideas we are thinking about. We love to hear your suggestions as well! We work through them as quickly as we are able.
If you have an questions or thoughts about how to create a professional environment where we can problem solve and work together, please share them here. Let me know what you think!
Additionally, I am hoping to do some group problem solving this week! Learn more & join in here!
This is great; problem solving is super important!
