So, I'm really not been offensive to the listeners here on 7 cups. There's plenty of listeners who really care and try to help. But in the teen chat an issue was raised about how you connect to a listener and quite a lot don't reply, or block you and end the conversation. Is they any way we can some how improve this-generally just want to improve how people get helped on here and don't want to seem offensive to anyone!

@Melrose1993 Agree. This is a problem across the entire site. Apparently right now the best thing we can do is review the listener but that's super annoying.

@ReadBooksDrinkTea I know right. Like I love helping people and hearing that they feel like it's hard to find a listener that really cares is awful. I'm constantly on here now trying my best to help.

Listeners here don't get very good training, and we don't get very good support. I think a lot of the good listeners have learned active listening somewhere else before coming to 7 Cups, or just have a natural ability for it, and a lot of listeners who are completely new to it leave 7 Cups pretty soon after they join.

But on the adult side 7 Cups' entire existence depends on members paying to work with our therapists. If all our listeners were really good, and all our chatrooms were wonderfully supportive, not enough people would need to pay for therapy and 7 Cups would go bust. So it's a difficult thing to balance.

It would be possible to raise the standard of listening on the teen side only, because teens can't pay for therapy anyway, but I don't imagine that will ever happen.

At the moment all you can do is report the listeners who let you down, and encourage others to do the same.
