ROOMS PROJECT - people taking over the rooms
Hello everyone!
Recently, there are people in support groups who are taking the rooms and talking about random subjects, which has caused some problems for those who come to the site seeking help. Since this has happened, I have a suggestion. I don't know if it is possible but I would like to share.
I think that if we could create rooms it would be better.
How it would work?
A listener could be responsible for each room with a group of people. It would be as a group therapy once a week with selected people. Of course, there would be a limited number to not turn a mess.
@Enidxls I agree with you on the subject of people taking over rooms, but what we as listeners can do to prevent that is, encourage the ones that are taking over the rooms to use the community room if they aren't in need of support in the room that they are in, I do this many times when I walk into a room and I see it, and if we team up and encourage them to use the proper rooms, I think we can resolve this situation. I completely agree! It's gotten so bad that I don't engage on this site much as I used to because of it.
i rarely if ever use any of the rooms anymore , from what ive seen ,theres alot of trolling and bad manners everything a site like this shouldnt be ,its a shame i think .
@enidxls Thank you for your post! It truly is difficult to keep our many rooms supportive. Please know that we are trying our best to balance out the quantity of rooms with quality and to provide discussions weekly. We've recently added a project to provide support for group leaders and Moderators as those jobs are not easy. While we continue to work on supportive rooms, please don't forget that you can request a Mod to a chat room in one of the Listener rooms. Thanks again!
What I struggle with more is the people that come to all the rooms telling horrific stories night after night for months. Aren't these the kind of things that should be discussed with a listener?? So many times I leave here and go to crisischat because of what's being said. I've tried mute but then lose half of what's going on. I've asked nicely to change subject and got attacked. Yes, mod was in the room.
I was actually in a room last night, and everyone was just talking and discussing things, when an individual who was obviously in distress who arrived. I felt effectively unable to help this person, although every one of us in the room was trying. I think that the "refer" button should allow you to choose to refer to a crisis line, but also have an option of refer to a listener. That way, individuals who are obviously in crisis can be directed to listeners so that they can get more personal help.
