Reward Programs: Your Feedback Needed!
Say you have an approximate budget of $500 dollars a month to spend on 7 Cups to recognize and support its volunteers.
How would you spend it?

if you meant rewarding the volunteers i believe it's a great ideas...it would encourage other people to participate in it and would even turn into a career given the right budget...kind of like a youtube thing perhaps!
i think it's a really great idea!
After 6 moths of 6 sessions per week, a quiet lapel pin with 7 cups on it. After a year, pay money directly $1 per week for the first 6 months then $2 per week to cap off at $50 per week only if you maintain 6 events per week. Event is one on one or group chat more than 5 minutes long.

@Returncontrol2u As active listeners we should not have to pay 7 cups is free let's keep it that way for I live on a low income and paying for events would be expensive think of those who do not have lots of money.

I don't think they could pay is without a huge amount of legal review. Not only would there have to be disclosure of that, but also staffing to review and verify accounts to make sure no one is tricking the system. There would have to be a lot of review considering the fact that this would essentially be purchased mental health services at that point, which is okay but I think would then require a much stricter approach to listeners. I already think the requirements for joining the platform are too lax and allow inappropriate use more than I'd like. Then of course there's the fact that many listeners are not US based, and the tax situation could become an utter nightmare.
A five minute chat could mean 3 messages exchanged and I don't think that should be an event with rewarding, personally.
Lapel pin I could get behind but I think it would be more appropriate to have profile badges for anything under a year and any special focused... Ones up to by the picture, not just the bubbles. A year of active work (not just "you signed up a year ago" but documented 52 weeks of activity) results in a service reward pin with certificate that could be referenced in a job resume.
I'd put it towards proper care and well-being of the people who require physical interaction and care. Thank you for taking the time and resources to provide free training to us.
I think that surveys are a great way to get some understanding of how volunteers feel.

I won't even try to reply to the survey. I guess folks are saying it's hard to access? I imagine my opinion won't count as much, just one of the many, but appreciation is free. So, the volunteers......I see so much of people in a higher position recieving recognition. Not as much for the listener, which is the building block of 7 cups. No listener, no member, no listener, no mentor, no listener, no peer supporter, no listener, no admins. No listener, no 7 cups. I keep my head down and I get to work. I think maybe just more recognition for the listeners that are working hard to have a positive affect on the health and well being of members would be good, and it's free. If you want to send them a pre-paid visa gift card to use where ever they wish, then you could put the money to good use. They can sit with their family and let them know as well that they have been recognized by 7 cups and are sharing the wealth, and all call celebrate the accomplishments together. But there is much to be said about intrinsic motivation as apposed to extrinsic motivation. A simple thank you can work wonders.

After walking away from my post, I thought I would have more value to ad here. There was a work place study done so very long ago. The worst peformers in the work place were required to take a goat home for the weekend and take care of it (negative). They noted results and how if any work place performance was affected. They then decided, to change the circumstances. They changed the game and said the best performers would get a phone call to their mothers (positive), and the boss would tell thier mothers what a great job they were doing. Performance changed immensly in the work place. Everyone worked harder, out put was greater and sales rose. Fascinating. The name of my game, to change behavior is called "catch them being good" and make a big deal about it, and a big one! It's free, all of it!

There is a great program where employees or volunteers can go to send accolaides and received accolaides. Website is www.achievers.com
This is an employee and rewards program. I am sure it could be used for volunteers as well.

I have no idea how any of this works, so while I appreciate being asked for my input, I'm not qualified to give suggestions in this instance.
I would donate those money to charity, not organisations but a single case, 7cups volunteers are called "volunteers" because they are above money and they understood that the value of life is far above money, the connection with human beings, the good will is far above money. 500$? There is no amount for people who are dedicated, who feel and who want good, rich or poor, i don't think a volunteer will prostitute for 500$ or money and more money again...people are blinded by money and forgot humanity and true values...just give the 500$ to a single individual charity need, no organisation, just hand it to someone who you feel needs it and leave tge freevolunteers to be free of money...
Volunteers are here to give not to take $. "Rewards" are for dogs, volunteers feel instantly good when they give so "rewards" may come a bit insulting and degrading and leading to sadness and depression...
