How to stay motivated

For context, I'm taking a pretty heavy course load this year and I've been facing a lot of pressure and stress from and outside of school. I've always been a good student but I'm struggling to find motivation to keep putting myself through all this for my studies, especially since I don't have an end goal for why I'm putting in all this work (I'm still undecided about what I want to do after school). Any advice?

For me, a good strategy is using rewards. Rewarding ourselves makes us feel happy, valued, and recognized. It doesn't have to be a big reward to have that positive effect on us; sometimes even a scheduled break can do the trick. Giving yourself little rewards as you make progress will boost your motivation and allow you to maintain a positive attitude throughout your journey.

Make sure to take your breaks! The little ones between studying help but just have one day where you dedicate just relaxing and making sure you feel well rested mentally and physically whether it's going out with your friends or just simply relaxing at home! It makes a world of a difference at least for me when I did this.

I agree that rewards is a great idea, @globalBraid3744

Pressure from in and outside of school often drains our energy and concentration, especially with a more than usual heavy course load. Resulting in losing motivation and interest to stay focused on our studies. I often suggest others to use their end goal as a motivation to keep moving forward, but since you've mentioned you are unclear what your end goal is, maybe don't look that far ahead. Rather, rekindle that spark of interest of why you first chose this field of study. As you study in chunks, reward yourself at the end of each block of study time. Make sure that you're getting enough sleep, nutritional foods, and the needed breaks. Overworking your brain will only affect your memory. Sometimes, we just need to let it flow. Once a good student, means you have the potential to handle this heavy course load and the pressures that come with it~

  1. @reservedPenny626 hey penny, I cannot advise anything but I can say a few things, it might help you. A goal is vital to go on Penny but we also need to enjoy our path as we learn a lot from there only collecting knowledge is a huge gift and using it and connecting knowledge when the time arises is perfection goal can end any time once achieved and then you have to come up with another goal then another once again, this cycle will keep going but if we enjoy the path we might end up with great extent of knowledge which can come handy any time of life. thinking in this way might change the perspective of life and might help.

I don't know if that helped but please lemme know your thoughts on that.

Hey I'd suggest that you take breaks while you're studying everyday and that too consistently. Maybe you can also do something for your own self that will make you feel good and something that is rewarding to you. I know studying something heavy and difficult can be very difficult as well as boring sometimes as you said you're taking up a difficult course this year, but you also said that you've always been a good student so I'm sure you'll figure something out to keep yourself motivated. What motivates you is actually subjective and only you can figure that out. And as for dealing with stress, you can practice mindfulness meditation so that you feel grounded and can feel the heavy load getting off your mind and body. Figuring out what do you want to do after your School is something that you will hopefully figure out eventually depending upon your interests as time goes by so don't worry about that and keep going. ^^
