Letter of recommendation
So I’m planning to request a letter of recommendation from a teacher that knows me really well. I did well in their classes but there was this one class that was meant to prepare me for an ap exam. I took that exam and thought I did really well so I sent the teacher an email mentioning how I felt so prepared after taking their course but later found out I actually bombed the ap exam. This teacher has taught me in freshman and sophomore year; I’ve been in 3 of their classes and felt like they knew me as a student and as a person. Would it be a good idea to request a letter of recommendation letter from them and what do students talk about to teachers when they come to visit them prior to requesting a letter of recommendation?
Hmm.. I've only requested a letter of recommendation with jobs before from previous managers. I'm not quite sure if it's the same with teachers. Seeing how you've been in 3 of their classes before, and had generally left a good impression as an excellent student, I'd think you could ask them for the letter. If possible, you should speak with the teacher directly (rather than email). You could first refresh their minds about yourself, being in their classes, then lead into the purpose of needing the letter of recommendation.
I remember one time, when I asked one of my Managers for a letter, he asked me to write it up myself, and he just signed it. Maybe that Manager was just too lazy to do it himself. I'm pretty sure teachers are more willing to help their students, to help them advance in their achievements~
