Study breaks are very good but it is important to take the right type of activity so when you return to your studies you are refreshed.

Positive Study Breaks

Keep in mind different things work for different people. A good study break is not a way to procrastinate. Set a timer for each break and return to work when the timer dings

Take a walk OUTSIDE. in the fresh air! Get that blood flowing through you!

Stretch As simple as this sounds you are tense, stretching helps a lot!

Tidy up The cleaner your space, the more relaxed you will be as you study

Phone a friend Sometimes when you study for hours you can go into zombie mode so talking to someone can make you feel more human!

Take a quick shower 5 to 10 minutes. It will revive your mind, body, and soul! So refreshing!

Run a quick errand Good way to get a break in AND do something on your todo list!

Cook a Healthy Meal Taking the time to cook yourself a meal will be good for both your body and your mind

Meditate Focusing on some breathing exercises can open your mind to accepting more information

Express yourself creativityly You dont have to be artistic. This can boost your energy and your mood as well as clear your mind

What to AVOID

The wrong type of breaks can hinder your ability to concentrate.

Snacking on Junk Food - it wont give you the benefits you need to keep you on track

Taking a nap actually make you more tired, slow you down or stunt your productivity.

Watching TV, surfing the web, or any other media thing Can make you more tired than you really are.

Excessive Caffeine Too much leads to you crashing

Huge Meals Too much food will make you feel tired and lethargic so opt for lighter meals spread out throughout your study process.

Why did no one tell me this before? I always browse the internet for breaks or watch videos and it does make me feel very lethargic. On occasion I'd do the healthy breaks, but it's nice to be more conscious of them!

That is SO TRUE. Whenever I take a 5 minutes break *cough* half an hour *cough* I return (if I actually do return) completely exhausted and feeling bored. Trying to avoid screens and use my phone for only 2 hours a day.smiley
