Tips for Highlighting Textbooks

Hey student community. I have some tips for using highlighters when studying. If you buy a pack of highlighters it usually contains at least 4 different colors. I've found it's helpful to use all the colors. I didn't personally invent this method, but I discovered it this semester. I rent my textbooks used from the campus bookstore, and both the books I received this semester were highlighted in this way:

As you can see one color is used for highlighting section headers. One is used for vocabulary words. One for the definitions or important descriptions. And another for the names. For example in an APA reference (KatSubective, 2018). This is especially useful for open-book tests! Often my tests will ask questions about specific studies conducted by specific scientists so it helps to have all their names highlighted in the same color.
