Tips to take school seriously this year, and to get motivated?

Hello everyone.

I've made a post about this before but I want to go ahead and make a new one (since I lost it - and I just want to start a fresh new post.)

School is starting again and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me to take school seriously this year, and to actually get motivated in all of my classes?

Thank you!

:)

@EspressoGuy

Well for me, it helps to keep a planner with the things that I have to do! Color code it, make it pretty! Open it everyday! Does no good if it just sits there. Study with friends! Reward yourself for good grades! Console yourself for bad grades :) Hope I helped

@EspressoGuy Maybe you could try thinking about your long term goals, and how doing well in these classes can help you achieve them. Writing down where you want to be in five or ten years, possible career goals, or future schools you would like to get in to can help you remember why all the commitment it takes to do well in classes is worth it! Then, try to find a way to remind yourself of these goals whenever you feel yourself getting off track. Ideally, the classes that are the most important to your goals will align with the ones that you are the most personally interested in.

I love the idea of writing down goals as a way to motivate yourself. I've never done it before, but it's a great idea! Thanks for sharing! :)

@EspressoGuy Also, studying in groups can help because you can hold each other more accountable. Good luck, I hope everything goes great!

Maybe find some things you like about school. And try to stay organized with planners and ideas for the week. It may also help to think about why you need school and how it may help you in the future to be successful and happy :) good luck!!!

@EspressoGuy

I love all of these tips posted so far! Besides those, I use a different method that works for me (but perhaps not others). For me, one of the easiest ways to motivate myself to take school seriously is by picking a mentor (perhaps in a field you may want to study in) and aspiring to be like them.This person could be fictional or real, but when you think of them, you shoudl want to be them. Seeing their success and knowing you want to be like them, means the first step is getting an education and motivates me to get my work done :)
