Why? What is this annual meeting with international countries for?
The meeting if for leaders to come up with solutions to global issues (trade, security, economics, and climate change). That's cool.
Historically, it was G8, but Russia violated and disrespected international laws when in invaded the country Crimea. Therefore, Russia was kicked out of the group.
The American President, 46th president, signed the Juneteenth, the day when slaves were freed from slavery in Texas. Wow.that's 50 years after MLK was shot. It's significant because African American history is represented in US holidays and it will be known this year and years to come. Is is a celebration that marks freedom for African American slaves. in 1865. Wow. That is a long time ago, the end of 1800's.
African Americans are happy about it. AND, I agree with Kimberly Ross-Holmes. She hopes that the federal governement will take up more issues that affeect the everyday lives of African Americans.
I also learned that Chicago is the first to pay reparations in the form of housing gratns. due to past discrimination in Chicago. 25k for elligeable african americans.
Canada - Children in unmarked graves in a nearby school. Because they were beaten and abused by those teachers in Christain schools. Many First Nations were forced to convert to Christianity.
That makes me feel sad, terrible, awful. That is not right for a teacher to treat a student, First Nation that way from 1800's to recent 1970's. That is outrageous action to have graves for killing the child!!
