Documenting exam season
Hi!
So I've decided to document my journey through finals. Hopefully the last set of exams I'll be giving in a while (if I manage to pass, and I really hope I do)
I've got 3 days for the first exam, which is on Monday. I've completed around half of the syllabus today, and I'm planning to finish the rest tomorrow, and hopefully use the last two days before it to go through it a few more times. The subject is easy to understand but volatile.
I keep comparing myself to those i see online, studying for the same set of exams, but for 12 hours or 14 hours a day, and when I see that, my brain convinces itself that since I'm not putting in the same amount of efforts, I don't deserve to pass. All I can manage is 7 or 8 hours on a good day. I'm gonna try to push that limit a little tomorrow.

It's dinner time. Once again, I've managed 8 hours before dinner, hopefully I'll be able to do another hour or two before bedtime. I'm done with 75 percent of ophthal, just the tiny chapters and a few additional questions that were not in my notes left, which I'll cover tomorrow, along with revising the entire thing before the exam on Monday. Planning to prep a little for practicals after dinner, which is something I haven't touched so far.
I'm out of snacks, which I'll have to restock tomorrow.
It's a constant countdown in my head. Right before I go to sleep, right after I open my eyes. And I get anxious about being anxious, if that makes sense.
Woke up later than usual. Didn't get good sleep last night— i kept waking up every single hour and went back to sleep again every time I woke up. Must've been atleast 5-6 times?
Today wasn't great. Only managed to do 7 hours. Lost my mind a little about the change in the timetable. Some exams had only 1 gap day and some had 3 gap days before it in the old timetable, so I had read and recently revised the subjects that had just 1 gap day, and only covered part of the syllabus of the ones with 3 gap days because I'd have more than enough time to do it then. But now they've shuffled a few things around such that the ones that had 1 gap day now have 4 gap days, and the ones that had 3 now have just 1. They pull this move two days before finals start. So yeah...two subjects are gonna be a little tight according to the new schedule since I haven't prepared.
Couldn't get much done after dinner since I felt sick and still do for some reason.
Close to dinner time. Exam's tomorrow. Obviously, I'm terrified. I've gone through the important chapters twice, but it feels like the info is slipping through my brain and disappearing. I'm worried that I'll blank out tomorrow. Managed 8 and a half hours until now, maybe an hour after dinner to revise the smaller chapters.
The first paper went okay. Not good, not bad I guess. The long essays were easy but so lengthy, we basically had to concise and write the entire chapter in each. 3 mark questions and mcqs were okay... but 5 markers– I write some well and some were unexpected but I wrote what i knew. The main problem was time. Every question was lengthy. Even the three makers, they asked management of specifoc conditions and we had to write the entire thing for 3 marks? Questions are usually more specific. Felt like I didn't even have time to think in the exam hall, just kept writing.
I've got one gap day before the next exam. Syllabus is huge, I've been trying to force myself to study but it feels like im dragging myself through sludge. The early morning, all the panic and adrenaline before today's exam has made me crash, I guess. I got a few things done, slowly, but now even that isn't happening. I sure as *** can't do everything tomorrow.
