Does anyone else feel like they have nothing to say sometimes

I feel so boring. I want to talk but I never find anything to say, and I struggle to keep conversations going. How can I be more interesting and actually have things to talk about with people

Heya, I'm really sorry to hear you feel this way about yourself, it can't be an easy thing to feel. I definitely relate in that sometimes I feel I'm not interesting or sparky enough to keep the conversation going. What I've found to be helpful is asking people about themselves - it's everyone's favourite subject after all! I think it's also important to remember that conversation is a two way street - you match the energy of the other person, and it might be that they're not asking questions or engaging, and that definitely doesn't make you a boring person.

Thank you for having the courage to share this about yourself, it can't have been easy.

I really appreciate this. Especially the part about conversation being a two-way street. I always blamed myself for the silence, so thank you for changing my perspective

@humorousStrawberries9603 Ill say something just the opposite direction 😁 I am a quiet person and I like observation more than talking. So finding a "quietude" partner and just minding your own business with them adjacent is ✨satisfying✨

@needhelpwithOCD nothing more painful than being around people who do nothing but run their mouths and complain that you're quiet

I don’t think that makes you boring at all. A lot of people struggle with conversations sometimes. You don’t always have to have something super interesting to say, either. Sometimes, just asking people about themselves or sharing small things about your day can keep a conversation going. It gets easier with practice.

@humorousStrawberries9603 you are humorous despite it? that's commendable haha

You can always try some word games. It can be an icebreaker or a nice breaker (see what I did there? 😉)

hey, first of all I want to let you know that I'm incredibly proud of you for sharing that, its so brave of you! im really sorry you feel that way, your feelings are valid and they aren't something weird or bad. Having trouble finding a topic to talk about doesn't make you a boring person at all. I felt a very similar thing back in the day, but I could only imagine how painful that must feel.

I see quite a few people gave you some ideas on how to make it easier for you:) I really hope you found at least some of them helpful!

remember that your loved and you matter

sending lots of love <3

Hey Humorous Strawberries, it sounds like you really want to connect with people, but you feel like you don't have much to say or don't know how to keep a conversation going. I know how frustrating that can be and I can say with confidence that it doesn't mean you're boring. I just wanted to tell you that you don't always have to say something interesting and that sometimes being curious about the other person and sharing small things about yourself can help your conversations flow better.

Hey! Hope you are doing your very best! Honestly, I don't think being “interesting” means constantly having amazing stories or always knowing what to say. Good conversations are usually more about being genuinely curious about the other person.

If you don't know what to say, try asking follow questions based on what they just told you instead of worrying about coming up with a completely new topic for discussion. For example, if someone says they watched a movie, you could ask what they liked about it what kind of movies they normally enjoy to watch.

And don't put too much pressure on yourself to keep every conversation going. Sometimes a conversation naturally ends, and that's completely normal. You're not boring just because you're quiet or don't always know what to say and that's completely fine and everyone faces that kind of situation.
