Feeling like a student again
I'm off to the library this morning. Work starts at noon, library opens at 9am, 8:15am (when I first started writing this post). Parked at my workplace and will start walking over to the library in half an hour.
Some of you may know, I've been working towards in making a career change. In the month of October, I visited the library in the mornings, taking notes on how to write Cover Letters and Resumé. Now the plan is to send it out to the desired company early January 2024. The reason to visit the library this morning, is I wanted to see if there's a format to write a follow-up email.. in case I haven't heard back from the company. I don't remember if I've taken notes on that or not. So, might as well go back and see for myself again.
Tomorrow is potluck day at work. I made my Double Chocolate Zucchini Brownies last night.. as I won't have time today, as I'm off work by 8pm. Made 2 batches.. one with dark chocolate chips and the other with mint chips. I've made both before, and loved the one with mint chips. Hope the staff like it too.
I might have to call in sick tomorrow though, so I'll drop off my brownies early in the morning, before the others come into work. I sent an email to my Manager early last week, asking if I could start my shift later for Thurs, because of doctor's appointment. I never got a reply of approval. So tonight, I'll have to check the sign-in sheet for tomorrow, and see if the time had been adjusted without telling me. If not, I'll call in sick instead. We're short-staffed, but my appointment is more important, someone will just have to work overtime.
I tried to be considerate of the lack of staff by requesting to start later, but if it's not approved, then, I'm starting to not make myself feel guilty for not working, and to call it in. My health is more important than whether or not we're short-staffed. They can manage, as long as one of them stays for overtime.
@Jaeteuk It's great to hear about the proactive steps you're taking towards your career change. That shows a lot of dedication and effort on your part. I hope you find the information you're looking for regarding the follow-up email format.
Your Double Chocolate Zucchini Brownies sound delicious, especially with the variation of dark chocolate and mint chips. I'm sure your colleagues will appreciate the effort you've put into making them.
It's understandable that you're prioritizing your health and your doctor's appointment. It's essential to take care of yourself, and your well-being should always come first. Don't hesitate to communicate your needs to your manager, and I hope everything works out smoothly for your appointment.
Remember that it's okay to prioritize yourself and not feel guilty about it. If you need to call in sick for your health, that's a valid decision. Your health is indeed more important, and I hope your manager understands the situation. Wishing you the best with your career change and the balancing of work and well-being!
Remember, your well-being matters, and taking care of yourself should always be a priority. Wishing you success in your job applications and hope everything works out smoothly!
