Tips for writing mt thesis without distractions?
@Ildry
Some ideas based on my student years:
- Do you have music that helps to concentrate. It can be anything such as classical music or metal.
- Put away, lock away you phone somewhere in case it is an issue that you constantly check it. Or mute it if the notifications disturb you.
- When can you write better? For me it was often in the night as there were no calls, no people around to start me head down a different direction. After 10 PM was my most productive time. So in case there is a part of the day that works for you, organize your day so you write and so use those productive hours
- Concentrate on the fun part of the thesis if there is one. Often the summary and preamble is requested to be written first, however that may be one of the more boring parts. Get into the main, interesting part or find which part you could have most fun with and start with that. If you feel more "in flow", then take always some time to work on the more troublesome parts so they also get written.
- Get some inspiration from your student peers and who talk about their work or structure they used. It might motivate you and wit that motivation you might be able to concentrate better
- Get bored beforehand. Starve your mind so even writing the thesis sounds like a bit better than looking at the paint dry.
- User the word counter of the editing software to motivate you. You write and yay 100 more words are done! This is a way to gamify writing in case minimum length is an issue.
This is not an exhaustive list and it is quite a subjective one, but maybe there is something of use for you in it.
The main thing is: keep strong, you will get over it! Each word you write is one lass to write later. Step by step you will get there and successfully finish your thesis.
