no motivation to study when I must do it
hello everyone. I am new to 7 cups and I find it nice to have a safe space with wonderful, supportive people.
I’m a senior in high school, thus the exams for college/uni are just around the corner. I have 7 months left till then. to add more context: I’m a foreigner, so it’s two times harder for me to study in that language and, moreover, to study their literature. I got into this school only to the second grade (4 in total) because I had to finish a year in school at home and I didn’t want to waste one more year just because of the language barrier. so here I am now - not knowing ANYTHING from literature classes they had in first grade (I’m speedrunning it rn). and I must take the “in-depth” literature exam to get to the major I dream of.
it wouldn’t have been so dire if there wasn’t an obligatory math exam. I’m not an ace at it and I tend to forget everything I learned just after the test so I have no idea how to put all of that info inside my skull. moreover, I have almost no time left for math because I have to study more for literature…
and now! I’ve lost motivation whatsoever. and I’ve been on idle in my bed for 3 days… doing nothing drives me crazy but doing what I have to (like reading once again a boring book for school or even opening the math one) puts me into quite depressed mood.
the post ended up being way bigger than I expected but appreciate everyone who read through it!! maybe some of you got any tips/ideas on how to overcome that unpleasant experience. thanks

Hello Kuzuya,
I can really sense how overwhelming everything must feel for you right now. Balancing literature, math, and the added challenge of studying in a foreign language must be exhausting. It sounds like you're carrying so much on your shoulders, and it's no wonder you're feeling stuck.
Here are a few thoughts that might help, but take them at your own pace:
Break it down: Maybe try breaking things into smaller, more manageable tasks. Like, reading just a few pages or solving one math problem at a time.
Study bursts: You could try short, timed study sessions. Maybe 20-30 minutes of focused work followed by a quick break to reset.
Mix subjects: Perhaps alternating between literature and math could help so that neither subject feels too overwhelming at once.
Find a support system: Is there someone, maybe a friend or teacher, who could study with you or help clarify things?
Be kind to yourself: It's okay to feel how you’re feeling. Giving yourself permission to take small steps forward can ease the pressure.
What do you feel could make studying more bearable or even a bit easier for you right now?
