I binge drink on the weekends

Well, I had drinking problems 12 years ago and I got better on my own and now I am headed back to drinking problems. I have started binge drinking on Friday and Saturday every week for the last year. I have gained 40 pounds and have started binge eating. This has become a sad vicious cycle.

*TRIGGER WARNNG*

@Spicysushiroll Hey there, thanks so much for your post; I appreciate you opening up to us as I know it can be difficult to. You are right; binge drinking is a harsh cycle like many addictions are. I am glad that you are aware of this relapse though; it is a huge step forward. How do you handle things whenever you binge drink? How do you think the drinking ties in with the eating/ weight gain?

If you ever need to speak with anyone, feel free to reach out to the listeners here. We are here to support you!

@lovelyWhisper66 when I am drinking I get super talkative and open up about my struggles and past tramas. I overly cry at times. I know I shouldn't go overboard with the drinking but I lose the voice that says stop and I ignore it all together. I am terribly self conscious and socially awkward so I usually drink when I am out on the weekends and when I am at home being social with friends I just drink. I don't know if or what my triggers are I just know I come from a family history of alcohol abuse and I like to drink I guess. I am totally new at all of this.

@Spicysushiroll Drinking leads to a variety of behaviors like being super chatty and crying. I can imagine how stressful it is to give in to the temptation despite your inner voice warning you not to drink. I'm really glad you reached out to us!

If you are interested, I'm posting a link to some resources that might help including a self help guide. You can find it here. We'd love to hear from you whenever you feel like posting here. As mentioned before, listeners are here if you need someone to chat with. I understand you are going through a very difficult time, but you do not have to go through it alone. 7Cups is here for you!

@Spicysushiroll I just read your post and see myself in it! I drink, start talking about my past, lose my emotional filter and the rest isn't good. I am too looking for a way to control myself more. I come from a family of alcoholics and I am extremely shy, unless drinking. I am ok until usually one person gets to me & I have to walk away. If I am unable to walk away, reprocuations won't be good.

Hello:) My name is Tickletongue and I am an alcoholic. Binge drinking used to be a big part of my life. I travel a lot in my job. But 4.5 years ago I stepped in AA as a necessary change in my life. The biggest change being that I'm more aware of my personal defects and want to work at changing them. I wish you the best sushiroll:) If you ever want talk we have listeners ready, before you pick up the first..:)

When you feel the urge on the weekend think of your own health, happiness and life in the long run. Alcohol is nothing but putting poison in your body. You

I've been where you are.

I am a recovering gambling addict & alcoholic.

I was never an everyday drinker, I only binged. I can only speak from my own experience when I say that denial was a big thing for me. I was in denial about whether I was bad enough to be an alcoholic. It's not worth going down the road of self destruction to find out.

You know you need to make a change & the best time is now. Find what works for you. For some people that's going to AA. I go to GA but not to AA. I find that the benefits of my other meeting carry over into the other addiction. I supplement my meetings with coming here & reading self help books.

My way isn't the right way, just the way I've chosen.

I wish you the best, PM me if you want to chat further.
